Once and Future Lurker: Just skipping over a season two I see. Good plan.

You can pretend it didn't exist if you want, but I'll NEVER forget what they did to Stan.

Whoever he was.

Pizzolatto will also direct along with Jeremy Saulnier (Green Room)

Ooh. Color me excited.

S2 was bad, but it was bad because there just wasn't any farking point to anything that happened. This season seems like it's trying to recapture the rural-Lovecraftian-generational vibe of the original, which is also a mistake. Do something different, just don't do something boring.

I liked season one and two, looking forward to three.

Two gets a bad rap, it started out slow and included some plots that weren't necessary, but the great moments more than made up for it.

I've never seen any of season 2. But I've watched the first season a dozen times. It's great. It's nearly perfect. They honestly should just stop making it, because they can't ever come close to that first season.

The only problem with the first season is the ending, really. It's rushed. They could've used a couple more episodes, I think.

First rule of watching anything starring Mahershala Ali: If he dies, stop watching.  It's just going to suck from that point forward.

Season two wasn't that bad, but the plot was way too complex for its own good. Quick screenwriting tip: If your plot involves government land deals, you just might lose some of the audience.

Yeah, it was *very* slow up to Episode 4 (IIRC), and suffered from having 1 main character too many. Taylor Kitsch's character (the CHP officer) was totally unnecessary. Vince Vaughn was especially good, though.

HBO gave Nic Pizzolatto pretty much full control for Season 2, and it sucked. Now they're letting him write, showrun, AND direct?!

The potential for irreparable career damage is high here.

It was written for a Los Angeles and California audience since it was based on true events with the city of Vernon/Bell scandal as well as the whole high speed rail corruption. If you weren't seeing the connections, it was a little complicated and unrelatable.

No, it was that bad.

And as for all of the stuff with land deals, that's all public record! You don't have to break into an orgy to steal  copies of deeds. Because of the sanctity of property, it's near impossible to buy land and hide the owner (Manafort, for example, tried to do this with his shell companies and he was still caught).

True Detective Season 2 as a whole is somewhat underrated, but man ... that first episode.  I fell asleep two days in a row trying to watch it, and that never happens.

It's most burning mystery remains what exactly did Rachel McAdams ask a guy to do in bed that freaked him out so much he pulled the plug on this ?   Of all the unbelievable crap TD spewed out the first two seasons, that was the most out there.

True Detective. A show which, just like The Last Jedi, was ruined by fanboys who believed in crazy theories the author never intended from the first place, and who were pissed off when those theories didn't come true.
