(Northumberland News)   There are people who don't quite sweep snow off the top of their vehicle, then there's this guy with 6 feet of snow piled on the top of his transport, hitting power lines as he drives along   ( northumberlandnews.com) divider line

Any commercial vehicle with a licensed GVW of over 5,000KG (11,000lbs), if you want to get specific.

I was going to go with "a truck that transports hockey pucks and poutine."

The week before Xmas the local police went on a blitz pulling over drivers who didn't properly clean off the snow. I hope they ticketed every damned one.  Double for commercial drivers.  We tell our guys to remove excessive snow from the tops of their rigs, no excuses. We have trailer ladders in our yard complete with fall protection.

A few years ago I worked in an office in Queens that looked out over the LIE just before the Midtown Tunnel. Since it was a spot where traffic usually backed up a bit, they had a cop standing out there going through traffic and pointing out the assholes who didn't clean off their car to pull over and receive their ticket.

It ended up being very slow at the office, so I really enjoyed passing the time by watching that all day.

What?  It cleaned it off didn't it?....

And the bridge was still standing afterwards too.

Happens a lot on the Northern State Parkway on Long Island. Low Bridges and trucks are not allowed yet, they don't read the signs, jump on the parkway and within a mile, the truck becomes a convertible.

jebus, first people complain about folks that leave snow on, and then they try to micromanage how folks take the snow off.
this is nanny outrage culture state at its finest

I looked up "ladder fall protection" and I'm completely disappointed that it doesn't involved a trampoline at the bottom of the ladder.

Yeah, sure.  Tell me that when you are behind a car or van -- even at a good distance--  who decided when they left their house that they wanted to pretend to be a rocket ship or a graceful comet leaving a glorious plume of rushing white dust as they rush down the highway on a sunny day, leaving a blinding white plume in their wake.  Best part is, it can affect traffic going both ways.

I'm guessing htis is somewhere in Canada, mostly due to snootiness of language, but nothing in that article or on that website specifies this. And Canada is a sorta big place.

And what's an OOP?
