Pretty sad day for America when Comey has to be a voice of reason.

Using Martin Luther, an early proponent of women's education and equal rights to explain anything to Republicans may not be the best choice.

Doesn't seem as though it's just Republicans he's talking about here. Seems like he's looking for "all the leaders" to step up because many are noticeably absent even on the Democratic side.

Oh, look... Comey has a tell-all book coming out this spring

/what a surprise

Yes. There should be a hell of a lot more noise from the Democrats every single time some Republican repeats a Breitbart/Trump lie about the FBI.

They get away with it because we let them get away with it.

If he's as good at writing as he is at subtweeting I'm going to be all about that book.

The Democrats were too busy knifing a Democrat in the back to bother making any noise about Republicans.

we need more Ted Lieu's out there calling them out for willfully lying to the American public over and over again

I wish we would do for Lieu what we did for Obama and fake a birth certificate and contemporaneous birth notices so that he could be eligible to run for Preside...and I've said too much already.

Comey is a holier-than-thou attention whore, but he is honorable. He takes his job seriously. Too seriously, probably. But that's the kind of person you want running the FBI or the Justice Department.

He's still a Republican, though, which means that his judgment is suspect in political matters.

Because he used the word 'intent' when defending Clinton's mishandling of classified documents.  It was the most stupid thing I have ever heard a law enforcement officer say.

Short form: he was faced with a choice between a shiat sandwich and a shiat burger. Both served with a side of shiat.

(Though the thought that he should have included a certain other investigation in his memo so that it wouldn't be leaked so readily does have some resonance. If it was ever a viable option, that's a hell of an "oh, well".)

No, but they put people in key leadership positions which set the tone for both of those departments.  For example, Obama curbed the prosecution of people/companies that hire undocumented workers.. etc.   Each administration sets its priorities when it comes to enforcement.  Obama spent a ton of time and effort in the DOJ trying to reform police departments, etc.

So no, they are not impartial, they do the presidents bidding.

I'm not saying it does, and in this instance I think the silence from conservative "leadership" speaks for itself

/but it does seem a little self-serving (to me) to send out provocative tweets when you put a big-ass ad for your soon-to-be-released book on your homepage

He put it in a letter to Jason chaffetz, former chair of house oversight committee.

Notifying the chair that something he had testified about had changed was a reasonable thing to do to avoid the appearance of misleading Congress.
Chaffetz however is a tool, took it to fox, then resigned and took a high paying gig as a commentator on Fox News....

You starry eyed and "pure" progressives really know how to get up on a farking cross. Franken got done dirty, but least of all by other Democrats. It's politics and it ain't pretty. Good people get farked over all the farking time.

Get over it. What's done is done.

Focus on what you can personally do make a better future and stop relying on perceived heroes. Al Franken wasn't going to save us. Comey won't save us. yeah his moles inside the NYPD had leaked it to him. I remember that but afaik Comey had to report it to congress and he knew when he did that they were going to make all the political hay out of it that they could so he tried to downplay it and tell everyone that what was on the phone was most likely stuff they already had. (which it was) and not to get too worked up over it (which they did)

James Comey should run for President in 2020.

2018-01-03 11:35:35 AM
The evidence is overwhelming that Comey cost Clinton the election with his idiotic letter with about evidence that didn't exist. Before that point she was 6 points ahead which is the number for a blow-out election. Three weeks later she was 2.5 ahead which was close enough for the electoral college magic to work. And everyone puffed themselves up by saying what a terrible campaign she ran.

By that definition every war ship that was ever torpedoed was a terrible war ship.

But what I am hearing now is that Comey's letter was prompted by a leak from Republicans. I think it was Chaffez. Can anyone here link to that story?
