Bannon went on, Wolff writes, to say that if any such meeting had to take place, it should have been set up "in a Holiday Inn in Manchester, New Hampshire, with your lawyers who meet with these people". Any information, he said, could then be "dump[ed] ... down to Breitbart or something like that, or maybe some other more legitimate publication".

I find it interesting that Bannon is willing to publicly say that Breitbart is not a legitimate publication.

So now you are telling me that Bannon is a truth font?
You are kidding, right?

Oh my.

Another quote from the book (from a different FA) sums it all up very nicely:

Thomas Barrack Jr, a billionaire who is one of the president's oldest associates, allegedly told a friend: "He's not only crazy, he's stupid."

Read the original article, not the Raw Story cliff notes version:

https://www.theguardian.com/us-news/2018/jan/03/donald-trump-russia-steve-bannon-michael-wolff

I like this part:

"You realise where this is going," he is quoted as saying. "This is all about money laundering. Mueller chose [senior prosecutor Andrew] Weissmann first and he is a money-laundering guy. Their path to farking Trump goes right through Paul Manafort, Don Jr and Jared Kushner ... It's as plain as a hair on your face."

Last month it was reported that federal prosecutors had subpoenaed records from Deutsche Bank, the German financial institution that has lent hundreds of millions of dollars to the Kushner property empire. Bannon continues: "It goes through Deutsche Bank and all the Kushner shiat. The Kushner shiat is greasy. They're going to go right through that. They're going to roll those two guys up and say play me or trade me."

Scorning apparent White House insouciance, Bannon reaches for a hurricane metaphor: "They're sitting on a beach trying to stop a Category Five."

Trump is not spared. Wolff writes that Thomas Barrack Jr, a billionaire who is one of the president's oldest associates, allegedly told a friend: "He's not only crazy, he's stupid."

When you've got Steve Bannon calling your actions treasonous you're either OK with non-whites living in the USA, want to allow poor people to live, or maybe you've perhaps committed treason against the United States by undermining our electoral process and colluding with Russians.  And I am pretty sure that Trump and crew are not OK with non-whites living in the USA and I know they don't want to allow poor people to live.

When you've lost Bannon, what do you have left?

Forget it.  He's rolling.

And I'm not kidding.  These guys just love to hear themselves talk and pontificate.  It's why they keep stepping on their own dicks.  Doesn't matter to them.  Doesn't matter to the enthralled.

And that's the infuriating part.  Their sycophantic fans still think they're just awesome.  Bannon's thrown his Nazi base under the bus on more than one occasion.  Trump is crowing about a tax plan that will devastate his most ardent red state middle class supporters.  Doesn't matter.  They are enthralled by the pathetic and nonsensical pontification.

More like evil opportunist who saw something incriminating, and didn't want to spend time in prison for not reporting it to the FBI.

With the bar being set so low by Trump and his idiot brigade, it doesn't take much to look "heroic" these days.

I think that Jr, Jared, and Eric think that they are running the show and to a degree they are (rather ineptly I might add) but there is a whole lot of shadows with clout close to them. Shadows that DO NOT like the spotlight. For those three it's just a matter of who gets to them first.

Consider, maybe, Trump's base losing Trump (now trending more and more "untrustworthy") and a smarter Bannon thinking he can come out ahead.
Ahead of what, you ask?
Why, the far right-wing.
Maybe Mr. Bannon has Charlie Mason-like dreams of power through division.

2018-01-03 10:02:21 AM
Notice that Bannon is saying "if the meeting happened" so he's implying he didn't know about it and had nothing to do with it. And in July Bannon was still an outside cheerleader at Breitbart and Manafort was still running the campaign, so his claim is believable.

And then he goes on to claim that the investigation is all about money laundering which is another thing that he has nothing to do with.

So I wouldn't be too quick to call him a hero because all he's doing in the interview is covering his own ass and pretending the the Cambridge Analytica stuff doesn't exist.

Speak for y

2018-01-03 10:03:13 AM
Let's carefully unpack this quote by Darth Bannon:

The meeting was revealed by the New York Times in July last year, prompting Trump Jr to say no consequential material was produced. Soon after, Wolff writes, Bannon remarked mockingly: "The three senior guys in the campaign thought it was a good idea to meet with a foreign government inside Trump Tower in the conference room on the 25th floor - with no lawyers. They didn't have any lawyers.
"Even if you thought that this was not treasonous, or unpatriotic, or bad shiat, and I happen to think it's all of that, you should have called the FBI immediately."
Bannon added: "You never see it, you never know it, because you don't need to ... But that's the brain trust that they had."

So, let's review.  Bannon ADMITS he thinks the meeting was an act of treason, then goes on to war game HOW the meeting, which he thinks was treasonous, SHOULD have Taken place.  then goes on to admit  Brietbart, which he was editor-in-chief of , was essentially an arm of the campaign, and that it's not really a legitimate new source

and he said all of this out loud and on the record

Judging by each Twitter account, Eric is either the real smart one or He's the only who hired a social media manager to write his tweets for him. His tweets are either retweets of his dad, an occasional attack on the media's bias that is not as insane as his dad's (I know, low bar), and you're typical "today we remember our troops" kind of stuff

As much as I love watching carrion beasts fight each other, if Bannon was really playing the long game here, something far worse than Trump could be in the cards.  I'm super-suspicious of anything that even looks like a spark of positivity nowadays.
