if I'm not mistaken, Mob Psycho 100 is by the author of One Punch Man, which is one of the best anime series I've seen in years. Looking forward to it.

Mob Psycho 100 is *not* the Japanese Stranger Things. Of course, I haven't seen the live action Mob Psycho 100, but the anime is one of the best newer shows out there, and was made by the same creator as the underrated One Punch Man, although I like Mob Psycho 100 much better than One Punch Man.

The anime plot is this: Artaka is a con man psychic who preys upon people who believes in ghosts. BUT if the ghosts or monsters just happen to be real, he uses Mob, a nerdy Junior High School student with Dark Phoenix level psychic and magical powers. Much of the shows humor is the fact that Artaka only cares about money, and as amazingly powerful as Mob is, he sees his afterschool job as a diversion and genuinely just wants to work out his tiny body and fit in with his classmates.

Do watch the Anime if ya can catch it.

A Stranger Things set in Japan would be cool, lots of references to Gainax anime would be interesting to see.

Ah, thanks.  I'm going to have to check that out.  The article made it sound like some vague Akira rip off.

Seems like you haven't seen Blue Blazes. Although Blue Blazes is set in the 80's (And is a mostly true story), it takes more after Amadeus, with the hapless Honoo, being used to being the best artist, suddenly competing in Osaka Art School against the very talented (And very real) Hideaki Anno and the rest of the Gainax otaku.

Other Anime which I can legit call the "Japanese Stranger Things" is a show called "Erased", where a boy goes back in time (in his childhood body, no less) to solve a murder. The build up and set up to the plot are amazing, even if the ending is underwhelming and predictable (As most anime tends to end).

I wonder who would play Kurt Russell's part in the Lost in Space reboot.

As a Parker Posey fan, I am not sure if we are going to get the right Posey. As long as it is not Josey and the Pussycats, Posey, we should be alright.

Netflix is definitely doing its part to alter American TV viewing. Continuing the trend of British length seasons plus the lack of a a set weekly air date is good. Has Netflix worked out the download capability? Amazon is hit or miss with this.

Yeah, he was a Prince on some alien planet. Total trip when I saw the episode on a rerun sometime back in the early 90s.

Probably watch Lost in Space since it's out over the summer hiatus and I'll give the Coen western a look. The comics TV boom is eating up my viewing time so I just got around to The Good Place and GLOW over the holidays.

and as soon as I said that I remembered.  you know to bring him back and play a prince again would be pretty funny.  although I"m sure this is a darky mcdark treatment, not nearly as campy as the original series.  Although if you watch the very first episode, it was pretty dark and dr. smith was an actual real villain not a clownshoe.  I think they went 'whoa this is a bit much, lets make it for kids' and then we had talking carrots.

Just asking if they're going to keep up the tradition. Look at the first season of the TV show and then at the "space suit" worn by Cuthbert (or whatever) in the movie. It's like anime in that there is always a just post-pubescent girl in the family.

Probably to get the just post-pubescent boys to watch.  Judge Moore is an artifact, not the intended audience.
