As we told the Senate Judiciary Committee in August, our sources said the dossier was taken so seriously because it corroborated reports the bureau had received from other sources, including one inside the Trump camp.

uh-oh.

There may be some Democrats implicated in all of this mess.... Don't give a fark.

The GOP, right now, is like the O'Doyle family.

now this is a helluva burn

"Yes, we hired Mr. Steele, a highly respected Russia expert. But we did so without informing him whom we were working for and gave him no specific marching orders beyond this basic question: Why did Mr. Trump repeatedly seek to do deals in a notoriously corrupt police state that most serious investors shun?

What came back shocked us. Mr. Steele's sources in Russia (who were not paid) reported on an extensive - and now confirmed - effort by the Kremlin to help elect Mr. Trump president. Mr. Steele saw this as a crime in progress and decided he needed to report it to the F.B.I.

We did not discuss that decision with our clients, or anyone else. Instead, we deferred to Mr. Steele, a trusted friend and intelligence professional with a long history of working with law enforcement. We did not speak to the F.B.I. and haven't since."

I would believe that Christopher Steele was a decorated British spy if he had a real British name like Rutherford Worcester or Percival Stratford-upon-Avon. Christopher Steele sounds like an Ian Fleming invention. John Le Carre would never name a spy Christopher Steele.

Can't they just release what they said themselves or is there some law that prevents that? If they release it and the Rs in Congress say it's not true, then the response should be PROVE IT!  Release the transcript of testimony.

There is no law that prevents that. They can release everything they said themselves. Not what anyone else said mind you, but what they said.

I doubt they have what they said. It was a long testimony, probably involving a lot of questions, and I doubt they allow witnesses to bring in their own transcriptionist.

Yup. There's a reason Chuck Grassley has been sitting on his ass on this, even though Fusion GPS said they wanted it released from the very beginning.

Grassley mumbled something about "having it cleared by lawyers" first, then immediately started ignoring it with all his GOP powers of self-preservation.

Kompromat is the break glass in case of emergency control mechanism.  It is never the beginning or the end.  A blackmailer may blackmail a man for 50 years and have once threaten to release kompromat as a good to action.

The trick is to convince the target that you are on the same team.  Help them.  Give them some sugar.  Once you do that, the kompromat is forgotten.  They view you as an ally that they once had a bit of disagreeable business with.

Hey now, Christopher Lee was a badass real life spy with a novel name. There must be something about that first name... though it makes me question why my parents also gave me a British spy's first name when I was born...

I just got the giggles because I just noticed that AR is literally doing what Trump and his minions do when a bit of information doesn't go the way they want: they gin up outrage that the information was released to distract from what the information actually says. He's so wound up over whether the leak was ethical that he's completely forgotten what it implies.

That is SO Trump.

And of course, you never answered my question. The Trump organization squats on a lot of domains with their name in it. Same as any other large organization. Quoting the Whois info for trumptowermoscow.com proves nothing. Big nothingburger.

Fusion GPS demanding that the transcript of their interview be released is definitely a somethingburger.

so why are you defending the indefensible? Why focus all this time and energy distracting instead of discussing the topic at hand. You were wrong and deceptive, we all know that now.
