Out of how many million employees?

I'm willing to bet many of those are doctors at the VA and Executive level employees who have advanced degrees.

So, we should replace them with burger flippers, right?

God, I hate this stupid attack on govt. employees. I can point out some real concerns, but it goes to sh*t employees who can't get fired.

But, one aircraft carrier costs $13 billion just to build, not to fuel, Staff and float. Sooooo... yeah, let's cut govt benefits and salaries again! Woooo!!!

2018-01-02 07:55:19 PM
Why is that a problem?  Don't we want to have the best people possible running and operating our federal agencies?

2018-01-02 07:58:32 PM
Put them on commission.

2018-01-02 08:03:18 PM
And?

2018-01-02 08:04:00 PM
I wonder if that includes generals in the military.

2018-01-02 08:05:46 PM
Looks like the highest paid governor is around $187k.

2018-01-02 08:09:49 PM
So barely 1% are making that.

Only in America would right wingers biatch about the 1% in the government while electing a 1%er to the White House and supporting him.

2018-01-02 08:29:47 PM
Probably doing a better job than most Governors, too.

Federal employees also are given considerable paid-time-off. According to the report, on average, federal employees are given 10 federal holidays, 13 sick days, and 20 vacation days per year.

Leave it to FauxNews to complain about people getting PTO.

Seems like the Dotard-in-Thief is getting plenty of PTO.

Like everything else on FOXNews that's just made up bullshiat.  Nobody gets paid that. The GS pay cap is $161,900 and the SES cap $187,000. Who knows where they get those numbers.

Governorships are state salaries, you farking nincompoop submitter.

Judges and doctors are capped at $187k?  What about hourly workers?  No overtime?

I can find a hell of a lot of senators and state representatives that earn a hell of a lot more than public school teachers and work about 1/4 of the hours.

So sure, let's talk about salaries....and we'll start there first.

And in the US those days expire at the end of the year.  Fun fact, in Canada vacation days are seen as part of your wage so if you don't take them one year they MUST be carried over to the next year.  Failure to do so is seen as wage theft by the employer and is super illegal.  If you have any vacation days left and you leave you job you must be paid out for them too, because once again, they are considered wages.

Well, federal employees can be fired for taking bribes, or should I say "campaign donations"?

Do they make more than university football/basketball coaches? That's where the real gummint money's at.

*shrugs* my sister might be on that list, I don't know how much she makes, but if she stayed in corporate law she'd be a multi-millionaire by now.  The federal government still has to pay it's employees somewhat competitive wages.  She took a big pay cut because she likes the work she does more and it lets her spend more time with her kids, but she could have had "retire in your mid 30's" money if she stayed with her last law firm.

Governors aren't in it for the money, they're there for the power, if they need money they'll write a book about their experiences, and taking too much money from the taxpayers might cost them their job/power.

When you're talking about particularly high paying federal government jobs you're talking about a lot of doctors/lawyers/engineers who could probably be making more on the free market.

Let's ask Schwarzenegger how getting a job with no experience and no qualifications -- but tons of ego -- worked out for him. Well-intentioned, but among the most ineffective governors California's ever had.

The horror! They're allowed to get sick without having to get worse at work and have a work/life balance! If that gets out, everyone will want these basic things that people in other countries have without issue.

Obama never threatened nuclear war, you conservative, dig-fisting, assholes.  Still on the Obama hate wagon? You obviously either give him far too much credit for being the feckless, lazy golfing president you also accused him of being.

I'm saying f*CK you GOP shills and trolls.

Yeah, and many of these require upper management and CEO level skillsets. You're not going to match the education and experience levels to the job, if you're not willing to compensate them.
These people would receive far more in the private sector.

I'm sure the next segment on Fauxnews will talk about how each of those government employees has refrigerators...

/yet it won't be mentioned how much D2S' appointees make.....
//Rauner did the same thing in IL....campaigned on "government employees make too much money" yet his governmental/political hires were paid more than Quinn's and when the non-Fauxnews media called him on it, he actually said you have to pay competitively to get "good" people....

I'll never understand what people have against paid time off.
That is mandatory in most other western nations.
Maybe people are proud that they are worked long and hard without any real benefit other than a crappy paycheck?

Article said one in five. 20% Math: How does it work?

2018-01-03 06:33:12 AM
The only feds who get paid that much are specialist doctors at the VA and other medical related jobs. The cardiologist at the VA facility I worked at previously made around $400k per year as a salary. That's pretty typical for that kind of work. It wouldn't surprise me if other med staff like Anesthesiologists or plastic surgeons make similar money.

2018-01-03 06:34:45 AM
Because long time employees getting raises and earning their time off away from work don't deserve that money!  Because you're supposed to shiat on all your employees and keep them as a wage slave so they can't have nice things!  BECAUSE REASONS!

\I hope anyone who has shilled and is shilling for FNs gets inoperable cancer and dies painfully

How many of those 30,000 positions include a house with staff?

2018-01-03 06:52:02 AM
I know it's been said up-thread, but this is utter B.S.  The article I mean, not Federal pay.  I love how they bring in USPS to throw around some large numbers, but then never explain what the high wage earners do.  My guess is you have upper scale executives, senior Federal judges, and lots of VA medical specialists.   Which is fine.  Brief CSB:

I work in DC as a private attorney.   Late in the Obama Administration I was asked about taking a significant legal position in my speciality at an agency.  I'd have been paid top of their scale.  And immediately taken a 70% pay cut.  I have two kids in a one income household.  So I had to pass, even though it was a cool gig.

If you don't keep agency pay within the same orbital plane as private sector pay,  you'll only get folks who can't make it in the real world to work in government.  Or billionaires looking to do evil, I mean.

2018-01-03 06:52:45 AM
Law on the books states fed worker drones can't earn more than a senator (yearly pay $174k)  in any pay period. This applies to executive series managers and includes overtime. No small sum to be sure but not more than every governor either.

2018-01-03 06:56:14 AM
So, outright falsehoods again?  Why break up a winning system.

2018-01-03 06:57:58 AM
Amazingly, the federal govenment doesn't set the salary of state workers. Funny how that works out, dumbmitter.
