FTA:  11. There were only 26 cases of Guinea worm in 2017

Not sure what a case of Guinea worm is, but pretty sure I shouldn't risk GIS'ing it at work.

It's just a parasite that burrows out of the human body by whatever path it feels will hurt the most. Nothing gross about that. It's also the reason Jimmy Carter is the greatest ex-President ever. His foundation is responsible for the eradication campaign.

I'd call at least 15% of that list bad but couldn't make it through all of it so that number is probably higher.

Seriously gross when it comes out of your eyeball. Pretty bad anywhere bc you have to draw it out very slowly (usually wind it round a stick) over a period of weeks. If you break it off, the part left inside you gets badly infected. Sufferers used to go and sit in cool rivers or ponds to relieve itch, thus perpetuating the worm as it needs to drop its eggs in water.

(One of the things David Attenborough cites when ardent christians accuse him of not acknowledging God's role in creating a wonderful nature)

All completely gotlified because some rich guys in the US got a tax break.  (And don't think all those rich guys won't initially take their tax windfall and immediately start to undo every single one of these, and kick a puppy on the way to the solicitor's office.)

We had a competent and sane president for 19 days in 2017.  Take what you can get.
