We're way overdue for a correction.

But then again, I've been saying that for a while.

2018-01-01 01:55:07 PM
Market correction of 20% as senior execs all cash out in 6 months.

2018-01-01 02:01:36 PM
it will keep climbing except during Mueller indictments coming out, and until mid October when the polling will prove out which way the elects will turn.  GOP still in control?  Stealing will continue, Russia investigations will be uphill and slow.  Both good for plutocrats aka Wall Street.  Dem majority in House? Slow down.  Dem in Senate?  Very slow down.  Both?  Black day panic because they know the game is up.
I expect two large natural disasters (and laughable Fed responses) which will hurt a little but overall the foxes rule the henhouse so it's all good for the Street.

I consulted the oracles and they say the stock market is going to soar.

But they're also trying to offload their stocks to me, so I'm skeptical.

Everything will work out for those poor 1% job creators. This will be their year.

Trump gets more in trouble, market goes down, GOP eats a baby on live tv but points to how the democrats are killing the economy, GOP gets the 2018 election, 2 more years of listening how the GOP is in trouble and the Democrats are going to take everything, something happens, GOP wins 2020.

2018-01-01 02:21:51 PM
It'll go up the first 6 months. It will hold steady to a very very slight decline into the later seasons as the Democrats win the election and the Tax Buyoffs are threatened.

2018-01-01 02:22:31 PM
I have faith in greed so its going up.

Emerging markets will keep outpacing it, though. I made 18.5% off the US and 23% off the 2nd world this past year.

I'm conflicted...We're due for a crash, not a correction.  But I'm not sure it will happen in '18.   Depends on if Congress rolls back more of Dodd-Frank.  We're approaching critical mass, but we're not there yet..
Essentially I'm learning we need several things to align before it all goes to shiat:
Massive income inequality. (Check)
Lax Regulation (Getting there.)
Massively leveraged companies / banks (I don't think so yet.)
Some new financial gizmo that is appealing to, leads to the above mentioned leverage.  Bitcoin may be a catalyst, but I don't think it can cause the slide all by itself.

So '18 will certainly be a year to watch.

I think it will fluctuate between 5% below and 10% above current 30 day average unless/until we get some kind of military intervention to shock it much lower.

2018-01-01 02:43:14 PM
The summer will not be good. The GOP will be in obvious trouble for the midterms and enough of the Dems will be talking about inverting the recent Tax bill that Wall Street interests will be covering themselves in ashes and tearing their specially tailored tear away sacrificial renting clothes, (tax deductible). This will make certain Dems nervous about losing the votes of 401K owners so there will be infighting while the Trumpers will keep up their simplistic lies. Nevertheless, the market will remain weak. The Mueller investigation will add a chaotic twist. But the international economy will maintain its anemic growth keeping things from becoming catastrophic, all the while the anti-globalists will be ignorant of this and calling for various stupid changes.

2018-01-01 02:48:44 PM
It's going to take something stupid - like more botched Brexit negotiations, Bitcoin cratering, or Asian currency fluctuations, and the panic will roll world wide. There are way too many idiots investing on margin and at the first shock, the selling will roll. Even with speed bumps, automated trading will make it worse.

By 12/31/2018 Bitcoin and its offshoots will become self-aware and will consume the supercomputers responsible for most of the wall street trading. DOW to close at 4,300. Rand Paul to be appointed as chairman of The Fed. Atlas Shrugged to replace The Bible.

-1 bunch fresh sage
-1/4 cup olive oil
-Coarse salt

1. Pinch off leaves from sage. Heat oil in a small skillet over medium-high heat until hot.
2. Fry 6-8 sage leaves at a time until crisp, 2-3 seconds. Transfer with a fork to paper towels and sprinkle generously with coarse salt.

That's my best sage advice.

I predict that the Dow will stop being a useful measure of anything at least 30 years ago.

The subprime auto loan issues won't cause a crash either, by themselves.  It's going to take the harmonics of several very bad things happening near simultaneously to cause a real crash.  Nothing is as widespread as the housing market was in 08.

Yep. There's got to be something else out there...where a lot of too big to fail banks are heavily leveraged...it will happen..it's just what and when.

His anti-business dictatorship will irreparably harm his wall street friendly billionaire business buddies. They'll make off like bandits at the expense of us poor main streeters and continue to drain businesses. Business.

6 good months as the gop tax scam affects profits and dividends and buybacks.

We might get another 6 months if people overspend their tax breaks. But the salt deduction is gonna hurt those people the most so I expect less spending to save up for the tax bill.

Watch consumer confidence and financial sector reports. As usual. A panic there maybe due to brexit will bring this down.

Once the federal deficit hits a trillion dollars or so and the face-eating leopards come for Social Security and Medicare, that's when we'll see the markets start to break down.

As long as the looting continues, the markets will go up. As soon as it looks like the looting will end, markets will go down. If it looks like a Dem wave in 2018, markets will level off until there's a clear sign as to what changes can/will be made to taxes and regulations.

Short term market movement aside, that's probably one of the least wrong things he's ever written.

A random number generator will continue to generate numbers. People will construct narratives and meta-narratives around minor fluctuations in the numbers being generated.

These narratives will then be used to determine courses of action, despite being mostly baseless conjecture based on nothing but the noise of perfectly normal variations.

(Holy crap! The Dow lost 100 points today!!!!)

I've been saying the same thing. I thought Dow 18000 was too much.

Considering that I'm usually wrong, the Dow will probably keep rising.
