That was an impressive meteor. The little shooting stars you see are just sparks compared to that one.

You can see the green light, produced by ionized oxygen (I believe). It does fade away fast with distance and probably abblation. I wonder how big it was? A shooting start is grain-sized, so this must have been at least a pebble or a small stone, I should think. Cool. You don't see those every day.

Awesome! I'll never forget the similar one my son and I saw a few years ago, also on new years eve. Green halo streaking behind and everything. Oddly, i halfway expected to see one last night when we were doing fireworks, too.
