Chucky will be a fine mascot for the Vegas Raiders.

If it gets him off MNF, I'm 100% in favor of it.

If I was a Raiders fan, I'd be terrified at this news.

The last thing they need is a guy who's actually been to the Superb Owl amirite?

You mean a guy who inherited a Superbowl team?

I think he's overrated, but I only think that because I've listened to him on ESPN. Maybe he's actually smarter than he seems. Maybe.

Could hardly be less smart than he seems.

He won that Super Bowl with Tampa because his successor in Oakland didn't change anything about the offense after Gruden left. The Tampa defense knew the Oakland offense so well that they were calling out the plays as Oakland was lining up for the snap.

Bingo. He's become a Bermann-like caricature of himself on MNF, and the more he speaks the more I become convinced that the his success was just dumb luck.

Really, with that kind of intel and that defense, Tampa should have shut the Raiders out. Imagine giving Buddy Ryan that much inside info before SB 20? Or Parcells/Hoody?

Whatever gets him out of the booth. Hate to admit it, but I can deal with Collinsworth or even Simms or....ugh.....Joe Buck...more than Gruden. I just heard one of his Wildcard Weekend promos on ESPN radio driving back from the store and I wanted to run him over.

What is Jon Gruden doing with a speculum again? He not a trained medical professional licensed in California.

Don't get all the hate for Gruden. If you think he won with Dungy's team the year he won the Superb Owl then you must also think that Bill Callahan won the AFC championship with Gruden's team by the same logic. Gruden likely could have already had a Super Bowl under his belt if it weren't for the infamous tuck rule game the year prior. And I know the Bucs are a laughing stock for most of their franchise history but that 2002 team was downright nasty on defense. Only 196 points allowed on defense over 16 games. The NFC championship game that year was the actual Super Bowl because either the Eagles or Bucs would have won against the Raiders.

There are legitimate reasons to dislike Gruden such as Bruce Allen being nothing more than a yes man for him and terrible at drafting/free agents but the guy is a great coach imo.

He won with Dungy's team. Simple as that. Guys like Sapp and Brooks and Lynch don't usually show up in a team as a rule.

He won with another guy's team, but he did manage to put them over the top, so there's that.

He managed to win pretty regularly in Oakland, with Senile Al still farking about in the front office. No mean accomplishment.

His regular season win percentage with OAK and TB is 54%. So yeah, he is about 1/2 game better than Jack 50-50 Del Rio.

He was 40-28 overall with Oakland in 4 seasons, after taking over what was not a very good team.

Al didn't start dropping his pants at the hair salon until about '07 or '08, IIRC.

This shiat again? Look, I don't care what team you're a fan of, John Gruden isn't going to come coach your team. Even if he did, he won't win a championship. How long has he been out of coaching now? That's for a reason. Why would he leave his cushy do-nothing job to go get fired after three years when he has ESPN and every fanbase that needs a coach kissing his ass and feeding his ego? Especially when he has all those cringe-worthy interviews with draftable quarterbacks coming up after this football season.

There were still some signs that the game was passing Davis by, even if he still knew what day it was. He hadn't the good sense to become a more hands-off owner. The two coaches immediately prior to Gruden experienced little success.
