Cleveland always trades down.

My money says John Elway is the first to call them.

It might not be a bad move to trade out of  the top pick since they have the 6th in their pocket. Depending on how far down that pick is and who they identify as their QB through evaluations and who declares for the draft.

A third-year sophomore, Darnold is projected as a possible top overall pick in the NFL draft, which will be held at AT&T Stadium in late April

If only there were something an athletic scholar could do for the next year or two to better protect his future.

Baker Mayfield will likely be around at 22.

It also looks like Lamar Jackson is following Darnold's lead in sucking to avoid the Browns.

I've seen articles speculating that Cousins could get as much as $30mil/yr contract if he's on the open market. The Browns will never spend that much on a QB and neither will Elway.

The Browns will get one of the hot prospects this year and pay the rookie contract before they go for a vet like Cousins.

The Broncos will keep 1 or 2 of the current QB carousel and draft a QB. They are close enough they could trade up to that #1 spot without too much pain. Then again, I don't think Vance Joseph has a job come Monday morning. So predicting what the Donkeys will do is Jackass work.

The Jets need a QB too. So they are in the mix of trading up.

Bottom line: Cleveland trades out of one of those picks. They will get more picks than they should. They will manage to Cleveland those picks into factory sadness.

Sonny, true love is the greatest thing in the world. Except for a nice MLT, a mutton, lettuce and tomato sandwich, where the mutton is nice and lean and the tomato is ripe. They're so perky, I love that. But that's not what he said! He distinctly said "to beleive." And, as we all know, "to beleive" means "to bluff," huh? So you're probably playing cards, and he cheated-

Well the Jets, Bengals, Broncos, and Browns all have top 10 picks so that's not out of the question.  He's their kind of quarterback.

There is going to be some trading going on.

Here is the projected order:
Cleveland Browns (0-15)
New York Giants (2-13)
Indianapolis Colts (3-12)
Cleveland Browns (via Houston Texans, 4-10)
Tampa Bay Buccaneers (4-11)
Denver Broncos (5-10)

There are lot of teams desperate for a QB. Of the top 6, I don't the Colts or Bucs grabbing a QB. Cleveland will grab one with one of the 2 picks they have. Hard to say what the Giants will do. I can totally see the Donkeys trading up to gamble on a franchise QB.

Based on the tradition that John Elway and the Broncos will hurt the Browns and Browns fans in the most painful way possible, would it be lock of the century that any player Elway drafts via a Browns pick traded to Denver becomes a superstar?

I think last night was evidence that the USC coaching staff does NOT have all that much confidence in the guy or his abilities.

They were down by 17 with over 8 minutes and all three timeouts left.  Instead of going to the hurry-up to try and close the gap, they did just the opposite.  They actually went to a slow-down version of their offense to try and grind out one long, last drive to try and make the score a bit more respectable.   They were letting the play clock run down to under 15 seconds (or less) before snapping the ball, killing as much game clock as they could.  It was obvious they did not believe he had the ability to score to pull out a victory.

That told me so much about what the USC staff really thinks about Darnold.  He's a turnover machine, having single-handedly turned over the ball more than 53 NCAA Div 1 TEAMS.  I continue to be baffled by why so many supposed "experts" are so high on this guy's abilities/skill set.

When he had time to throw, he was very accurate. Of course that won't happen in Cleveland.
Also he had some great receivers, again something he won't have in Cleveland.
He also didn't do well when the Buckeyes blitzed, which is what he will see a lot of in Cleveland.

The Browns have an above average offensive line.
Josh Gordon (when sober) and Corey Coleman can be above replacement level receivers.
Very few QBs do well when blitzed.

A lot of blame is thrown at Cleveland's offense when most of the blame should be aimed at Deshone Kizer. He is not good. Full Stop.

I'm surprised either team even bothered to show up after being screwed by Alabama, so it doesn't surprise me that either team looked unprepared or uninterested in winning.

Darnold is like a worse Tim Tebow.  I can totally see the Browns trading #1 to some team that wants Saquon Barkley (probably a top 5 pick, but maybe not #1, though is can see why a team would pay too much for him), then draft Darnold #4.  It would be just like the Browns to have two crap quarterbacks on their roster.

Cleveland does none of the above and does something so ridiculously clownshoes, it causes a hole in the space-time continuum leading to the timeline where they win the Superbowl.
