Went back to Borderlands 2 the night of the AL election as a distraction.  Never played Zero and now wish I had much earlier.

Stellaris.

Just got Divinity: Original Sin 2.

I like it, but so many of the puzzles require me to bring a second character.

Just picked up South Park: The Fractured But Whole for half price on Steam. Liking it so far. Also The Darkening of Tristram event is looming on Diablo III.

Still playing Blood Bowl 2.

If a company bothered to release a 40k game for PC that was as true to the rules as BB2, I'm pretty sure it would get massive sales, hint, hint.

Playing lots of Sudoku on my phone. Sub eight minutes on most of the hardest puzzles. Managing to cut that maybe 10 seconds a week, but with diminishing returns. Fun learning the patterns and knowing to act instinctively to place numbers before I consciously understand why I should.

I started playin Wolfenstein II becaus3 my wife is awesome and got it for me as a Xmas present.  At least it includes a recap of the first game.  So yeah.  Killing Nazis for Christmas makes me feel a little better.

Picked up Renowned Explorers: International Society the other day on sale. Fun so far. But some of the mechanics are kind of opaque.

Zer0 is awesome. And I hate doing melee.

Giving Hob another go, picked it up for a time killer while in the great white north, missed the part that said game pad recommended...didn't bring it with me.  Short answer on mouse and keyboard is...don't.

Is Mutant Football League any good?  I was thinking about buying it, but I don't have a controller for my system yet, so I wasn't sure if it would be playable with keyboard/mouse?

113 hours.  I finally beat...the first map.  On average/challenging 100 days/100% spawn density.  Goes up to 80 days/500% density.

Also I cleared out anything on my wishlist that was 2 bucks or under for the steam sale.  I have like 75 more games I'll never play now.

Dabbled in Star Wars Battlefront II while home for the holidays.  Got a Steam card and I'm thinking of getting The Surge and Crusader Kings DLC.

Let's see....

This week, I've been playing yet more World of Tanks, still slowly grinding my way towards the Matilda.

I also made some actual progress in PlaneScape Torment, having gotten to the point where Morte is kidnapped in the Lower Ward. Feels like actual storyline is happening now, especially after questing through my own tomb.

Found out that my Crusader Kings 2 game file got corrupted so wasn't able to continue with the Ireland newbie game I was playing. Took advantage of this time restart as a Petty King in Wessex in the 800s. Haven't gotten far and there's a lot of war and infighting happening. Lost half my kingdom to my half-brothers faction. Licking my wounds before plotting revenge.

Discovered that I have a complete Season Pass for Telltale Games Batman,at least the first season. Played all of the first episode. It's my first time playing a Telltale adventure and I'm not quite used to the QTEs. Also, Bruce Wayne looks disturbingly like Sterling Archer to the point of distraction.

And I broke down and made my first Steam Winter Sale purchase, the base Elite: Dangerous game without the Horizons Season Pass, since it's only $7.50 and a lot of farkers seem to really enjoy it. As I type it's 89% downloaded. Will probably try and play for an hour after work, since this weekend will be occupied by LucklessSonder visiting.

I like a good melee, but Kreig was far,far better for it.  Nothing like literally beating Handsome Jack to death.

One of these days I'm going to figure out how to play Elite:Dangerous, and I bet I will love it. Until then though...there's a new Mutant League Football?!

Picked up DCS World Spitfire mk IX on sale as my Xmas present to me.

Spent a while yesterday learning the startup sequence. Pretty easy. Less than 10 steps. Now I just need to git gud at taxi, takeoff and landing. It's a twitchy beast. Flying is a dream tho.

Started Fallout 4 finally - first ever play through, last time I played fallout was Fallout 2 and brotherhood of steel, both of which I played the hell out of.

Someone in a thread months ago suggested modding the hell out of fallout 4, so I have a bunch for making life easier, as the basic inventory and settlement management methods are ass. I think I'll throw my lot in with the Minutemen, and go a stealth character with lone wolf, but there are so many options that it's still a bit daunting to know what perks to get in what order, and I'm starting to regret not min/maxing on either perception or charisma, as the level 10 perks of both trees look like fun.

Also, just got Pay Day 2 Ultimate Edition during the steam sale, as a couple of friends want to play it as a group at some point. First few missions seemed a lot of fun, but then I did a bank mission which involved sitting around for 10 minutes waiting for doors to drill through while killing endless waves of cops, then spending a full 5+ minutes with my back to the action, slowly lockpicking safes while the AI killed cops and occasionally revived me. Most boring. Mission. Ever. The game should be fun to play in a group, but that left a sour taste in my mouth for single player.

I played a fun little point and click adventure game - Agatha Christie: The ABC Murders. Not a lot of replay value in it, but I bought it on a Steam sale a while back.

Mostly been playing AC Origins. That game is beautiful. Think it may be time to do a full rebuild of the PC though, minus the GPU which is only a year old. Everything else is around 5 years old.

2017-12-29 09:00:16 AM
I'm replaying Skyrim and so far I've managed to get two followers killed: Lydia and Uthgerd the Unbroken. Lydia died fighting some Redguards and Uthgerd was killed fighting that Troll you encounter going up to meet the Greybeards. So far Marcurio has managed to stay alive.

Wife got me a Switch for Christmas, so I'm exploring Hyrule for the first time in over a decade. I don't think I'm very far at all and it's been good fun.

Playing some South Park: SoT, which is a really fun RPG saturated with inside jokes from the series, but with plenty of new laughs too. Great fun, I'm glad they didn't just stamp South Park on a turd.

I fell headfirst into Stellaris, but after getting swept in four separate games, I'm giving it a break. It's a lot of fun, until combat rears its ugly head. There really isn't a rhyme or reason for how space battles go, it just boils down to "who has the bigger combat number". Shelved it, hoping a patch comes out for the combat, because it's fantastic otherwise.

And finally, I've been trudging through a Fallout 4 survival run, though I'm a bit salty because I was heavily into a quest when my power went out. I rebooted to see I lost about 2 hours progress. That's what we call 'Bethesda Regret', and I had too much to relive at that moment.

Getting started with Xenoblade Chronicles 2.  It's very anime, but I like it so far.

PC Upgrades?!  Uh oh, yes I am facing PC upgrades.

The story is on boxing day I managed to talk myself into a 4K OLED for my new monitor.  Damn thing is beautiful and huge but as I figured its also a significant jump in video card performance over my previous 3440x1440 display.  So since Ark is just such a god damn pig any ways I'm facing with either lowering my settings even further (yah right) or new cards.  If I wait until march I bet the 1180s will be out and I can buy some of them, otherwise it'd be upgrading some 1080s for 1080TIs which I have a hard time justifying.  I typically skip a generation or two between purchases but lately I keep liking games that are just brutal on even the best hardware available.

In Ark we're firmly entrenched in the green zone of Aberration and stood up a larger base at the edge of the lake in the blue biome.  We're starting to feel out towards the south into the red zone, very interested in acquiring some rock drake eggs.  I've only been to the surface once and that did not go well at all.  First thing I met was a reaper king and I made the foolish mistake of running from it.  I got back to the lip of the cliff leading back to the under world before it slew me.  Then I proceeded to die a few more times to it after discovering much to my horror it fell down the cliff to join us in the under dark.  Lost a bunch of good pets too.

I bought Final Fantasy 7 from the PSN store last night.

Some new things added:  3x speed, Battle Enhancements (infinite limit break, can't die) and no encounters can all be toggled on and off simply by pushing R3, L3 or R3+L3

I've used the no encounters thing a few times just for exploring areas, all games should have a no encounters toggle.

Nope, I'm done with PC upgrades. My most recent issue is that after a BIOS update my computer won't boot with the RGB keyboard plugged in, apparently the power management during post doesn't like the draw of my keyboard. Once it posts I'm good to go. Every troubleshooting step I have found suggests a mobo upgrade. I'm not in the mood for that, so we will simply unplug the keyboard during reboots.

When this box is old I will get a laptop and will enjoy my strategy games. I'll leave the FPS stuff to my kids on the console.

I returned to breath of the wild hoping to finally finish it so i can move on to mario odyssey. Played alot of Rocket League to acquire some holiday car customizations. I got a Pacman plug and play for xmas so I played a little of that with my 4 year old.

I got a Steam Link for Xmas.  I excitedly set it up and started playing games on the big TV from the couch. It's a full-wired connection, and it's very nice.  Smooth gameplay, my graphics card keeps up.  I can have the computer in the office, and play in the living room or the office.

I have been going through and trying to play either an hour or to completion my steam games.  They get put in one pile or the other at this point.  I'm not going to buy anymore until I'm through the majority of the muck I picked up in humble bundle sales.  Right now it's at 300 never played.

This week:

Bit Trip Evolution - fun platformer game, the kids enjoyed playing it with me, we're working on completing this game

Terraria - I picked this up in the steam sale, 4-pack.  The kids love the pocket edition and they were very excited to have the PC version to play with.  So I am building right along with them.

Scrap Garden - We started the game about a week ago and play it together.  We stopped playing it this week because there are too many game-crashing bugs that continually happen (jump here and you fall through the world, going into this area crashes the game).  I tried playing though some areas that crash on another computer to just get past them, but it turned into a major PITA.  The game is fun, but it needed more QA/QC.

At this rate, I will never whittle down the 300.  Better get cracking.

Wife got me the PS4 VR for Christmas, so I've been playing VR Skyrim. Pretty fun, they've suckered me into 3 versions of this game now, and it's still just as good.

Been playing nothing but BOTW since I got the switch back in early november. Don't really know how many hours I've sunk into that game but I'm all about the exploring, walking around trying stiff out. Mastered 3 out of four beasts, got thr master sword and a whole lot of supply/cool stuff. Just gotta take care of tge gorodo beast and then it's off to ganons castle and lop off his head.

Or some such. Great game ❤

Well that's a pretty annoying problem.  My thought though is maybe you could introduce an intermediary in the chain to stop the motherboard from seeing the keyboard directly.  For instance all my monitors have USB pass through, if yours does maybe attach the keyboard through that?  This would hide the keyboard's oddball power draw from the motherboard itself since the monitor would be essentially a powered USB hub.

Picking safety deposit boxes is awful -- I don't recommend it! Have someone on your team bring a saw (and ammo bags to replace the blades, cause you'll go through 4 or 5 popping all the boxes). Infinitely faster and easier. My role in bank heists is usually shotgun/saw with skills focused on making the drill work fasyer/better. Good luck and happy heisting!

Perception is probably the least required tree. I play no-VATS; and Rifleman and Locksmith are the only must-haves, with Demo a nice addition. Refractor is nice later in the game. If you're a hoarder, make sure you get the salvage beacons mod, especially if you're playing survival difficulty.

My keyboard has 2 usb cords, i'll have to look on my monitor to see if there are two ports. It's worth trying.

WOWS. I hadn't been to sea in a while and it didn't look like I was going to be made the ruler of the Queen's Navy...

Knights of Pen and Paper 2. It's absolutely addictive. It's D&D, but you don't have to commit to a few hours a week forever.

Hand of Fate 2. Lots of fun. I seem to be doing something wrong though. Can't seem to live through the entire first challenge.

Back in Shogun Total War 2. As if 400 hours of gameplay wasn't enough

Splurge for Horizons.  Seriously.  It's 50% off itself, and more than doubles the content you have access to.  I really don't think you'll get that much out of Elite as it stands without it.

Been enjoying my Xmas presents mostly: Legends of Heroes: Trails of Cold Steel was the big one that my wife and I have been waiting to get each other; so far, aside from the changes to the Arts (Magic) system which I don't like at all, I'm enjoying the story and other gameplay immensely.  Which isn't unexpected, given how much I've enjoyed all the Trails games prior to it.

Also got Yonder: Cloud Chronicles finally.  Stardew Valley meets Zelda.  Ain't nothing wrong with that!  The problem is balancing the time between it and Cold Steel, actually.

Also, before Christmas I picked up a little RPG Maker game called Tales of Winds: Tomb of the Sol Empire.  The translation job from Japanese is... iffy, but not too bad, and the character icons are typical RPG Maker icons (though very well done), but the map art is.... gorgeous.  It's absurdly cheap, so if you want to rest your eyes on a game painted in a Chinese watercolor style, it'd be hard to go wrong...

Aren't most people waiting on video card prices to go down? Early 2017, I was debating upgrading my card or getting a new system altogether, and decided that I didn't need a new system yet, but am also not going to pay the current prices. I've sworn off any upgrades until gpu prices come back down. Hello Stardew Valley!! And lots of other low/moderate req games.

Planning to do a fair bit of gaming this weekend. My gaming buddy and I are planning to introduce his wife to Destiny 2, as well as creating our last chars. I haven't played Warlock yet, and he hasn't played Hunter yet. His wife hasn't played it at all. For the last 5 years, we have always gotten together for a marathon gaming run for new years weekend, with lots of booze and food. Last year was Warhammer:Vermintide, and before that we did Left 4 Dead 2. This year we want to try something different, so we decided to do a Destiny 2 marathon. Going to be interesting to see how it goes.

GPU prices will stay inflated until the bitcoin scam is figured out. It is one of the primary tangibles being used as a conversion for the "currency".
