awesome slideshow

I didn't realize some of those were still on the air.  The only two I watch are Brooklyn 99 and Agents of Shield.  Brooklyn 99 is great, and I'd be annoyed if it was cancelled.  I've enjoyed Agents of Shield, but I can admit it has some problems, though last season and this one so far have been pretty good.

Goddammit. I love Madam Secretary.

Seriously, though, the last episode was SO good. It's still on my DVR despite having watched it 3 times already. I'll probably watch it again tonight. That said I'd be okay if this was the last season as long as they have a chance to wrap things up. It lasted a lot longer than I thought it would.

And Elementary is the closest thing to a cop show that I watch (well, besides Lucifer) but is another one I don't think I'll be too broken up about it if this is the last season. I just hope Clyde finally gets some character development.

More like 11 television networks in danger of bankruptcy.

I think Agents of Shield may be safe because it plays out a lot of the smaller plots that don't make it into the movies (like the LMD joke, Ghost Rider, the Inhumans arc, etc).  I think it's struggling this season just because of the very late launch, a lot of people didn't know when it came back.  It's been pretty good, last weeks episode was the best of the season so far, and last season was absolutely amazing.  I hope it sticks around and just has fun exploring everything it can without the constraints that the movies have.

I'll be a little sad if Elementary goes, I've enjoyed it, but their overarcing season arcs have been pretty bad.  I much prefer their murder of the week stuff.

The list:

1. Once Upon A Time
2. Madam Secretary
3. Elementary
4. The Exorcist
5. Crazy Ex-Girlfriend
6. Jane the Virgin
7. Blindspot
8. Brooklyn Nine-Nine
9. Agents of SHIELD
10. The Last Man on Earth
11. Chance

How is this a thing right now, given that we aren't even into the back half of most of these seasons yet? Someone really needed a paycheck article.

2017-12-29 08:12:31 AM
Crazy Ex Girlfriend is great fun. I don't know why anyone watches Brooklyn 99 in the first place. Elementary probably could have wrapped  up four seasons ago.

2017-12-29 08:13:01 AM
Last season of Agents of SHIELD was a great:

Season 4 Sizzle Reel - Marvel's Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D.

The new season is great as well. Last episode was the best one so far.

Brooklyn 99 is one of the few shows that I have to pause the DVR to regather myself for the next line.  It would be a shame if they went away.

Their Halloween heist episodes are absolute genius.

Andy Samberg sucks, but the rest of the cast more than makes up for that. Andre Braugher is worth the price of admission all by himself.

6. Jane the Virgin
7. Blindspot
8. Brooklyn Nine-Nine
9. Agents of SHIELD
10. The Last Man on Earth
11. Chance

Agents of Shield exists for Disney/Marvel to have the chance to synergize the movie properties with TV (not that they ever take advantage of that anymore).  If it does get cancelled, it will be replaced by another Marvel show by the next season.
B99 has had a good run.  I enjoy it, but it can't go on forever.  Same with Last Man on Earth.

Didn't see Gotham or The Orville so I'm good.

Orville already got renewed.

Meh. I've never watched any of them....

Why is Brooklyn 99 in trouble? It's very good. I won't slideshow.

6 seasons and a movie appearance!

2017-12-29 09:23:08 AM
Brooklyn 99 I love but just can't seem to catch it when it airs, so I'm forced to rely on re runs and on demand
Agents of Shield I tend to catch up with on Netflix
I really wanted to like Madam Secretary because it's produced by the Joan of Arcadia people, but I just couldn't.

The rest I can take or leave.

2017-12-29 09:26:45 AM
Last man barely made it last year.  Love that show:

How can B99 even be considered for cancel? Oh yea fox.

AOS got really good but I'll be ok if it's canceled.

2017-12-29 09:38:25 AM
Of those shows, I only watch Brooklyn 99 and Crazy Exgirlfriend. I like them both and would be disappointed to see either cancelled.

2017-12-29 09:41:06 AM
1. Thought they cancelled this years ago
2. Don't watch politically themed shows
3. fark you and your Sherlock Holmes rip-off schlock
4. Never watched it
5. Never watched it
6. Never watched it
7. Never watched it
8. Don't watch cop shows, but I hear this is good and by the same producer as shows I love like Parks and Rec and The Good Place
9. Just kill it already FFS, it needed to die after season 2
10. Watched like one episode - meh

WE GOTTA SAVE THE 99!

2017-12-29 09:51:34 AM
No Supernatural or Orville so I'm good.

Never saw Agents of SHIELD. I've already seen a Superman show with no Superman and a Batman show with no Batman, I can do without an Avengers show with no Avengers.

2017-12-29 09:56:54 AM
Jane the Virgin is like comfort food in a TV show for me. If it does get canceled I hope they at least get a chance to wrap things up.

rcain: 3. fark you and your Sherlock Holmes rip-off schlock

Elementary is closer in tone and characterization to the original stories than any other Sherlock show or movie in the past couple of decades (the cast and writing are also better than their contemporaries in the Sherlock genre.)  Movie Sherlock with Robert Downey Jr is dumb action schlock and BBC Sherlock is Steven Moffat masturbating on screen and insisting he's just so clever and you should keep watching so you can witness just how clever he is and hey, where are you going don't you want to see how clever Moffat is?  Don't worry if most of the 'plot twists' make no sense, you're just not smart enough to get how clever Moffat is. Oh, did we mention that Moffat is just so super clever?

tl;dr: Elementary is the best Sherlock adaptation we've seen in a long time and Steven Moffat is a twat.

The should give him the Emmy for best comedic actor and then retire the category.

Because it's the funniest show on TV right now.  It also has a diverse cast played by superb actors, and it's one of the very few TV shows with writers capable of writing healthy, lasting relationships instead of constantly falling back on the lazy-ass "someone told us in a writing class once that relationship drama is super interesting, so be sure that no one ever has a relationship that lasts for more than 5 episodes; besides, breakups are way easier to write" idiocy.

Yup, B99 has a great ensemble cast. It's Barney Miller updated.

I wasn't a big fan of Adam Samberg, but Brooklyn 99 has turned me around on him - and he isn't even the best part of the show.

Second rate Adam Sandler. There. I said it.

Apparently I'm the only one watching Blindspot. Maybe three seasons has been enough. That's not a bad run really.

I couldn't get past the absolute lack of chemistry between Jaimie Alexander and Sullivan Stapleton with the writers pushing some sort of love story between them in the first season...couldn't even get through the entire season because the two of them being interested in each other was just so completely unbelievable.

I think the difference is that Samberg knows when to step aside and let someone else take the punchline. About half the time in b99 he's playing the straight for someone else's joke. I don't recall Sandler doing that very often, but then again I haven't seen anything he's done in years.

Wife and I recently binged both seasons of Chance. We feel like the end of season 2 wrapped everything up enough that it can end gracefully there.

2017-12-29 10:50:53 AM
Apparently Designated Survivor is safe. Ugh. Though, it has sort of a happy fantasy premise that a lot of people probably enjoy.

2017-12-29 10:53:48 AM
The Woman and I enjoyed Once Upon a Time for the first couple of seasons, but got behind and eventually  stopped watching it. The same went for Agents of Shield. Neither one makes it on the DVR this season. With the minions, we are lucky if we get an hour or two to watch TV in the evening, so the DVR gets backed up

Right now, we watch the Arrow-verse shows on CW and the pleasantly entertaining S.W.A.T. along with the occasional NCIS and NCIS LA. NCIS needs to end this season and my DVR needs to be smart enough to recognize when a show is delayed due to football and record the entire thing instead of just the one hour block.

2017-12-29 10:55:23 AM
B99 is great; however, I don't watch it live and have to settle to see it on demand/online.  AoS is also great but if it has to end, I hope it ends well and isn't one of those shows that ends without having closure.

2017-12-29 10:58:33 AM
Oh and OUaT needs to end... actually I don't care, I gave up after the 3rd season or so.

Harbinger of the Doomed Rat: BBC Sherlock is Steven Moffat masturbating on screen and insisting he's just so clever

I agree, that show went off the rails and is a steaming pile of shiat which I refuse to watch any further. However, before Season 3 it was absolutely brilliant as a modern adaptation of Sherlock and the original stories.

But Elementary? I really could not stand that show at all, granted -- I only watched the Pilot, but I could not even bear to make it through that. Way too heavy handed and had this infuriating need to spell everything out for you rather than letting the little details speak for themselves, or made more foreground in later episodes. As soon as I perceive that the show caters to morons, I turn it off and never go back

IMO, House was the show most like the original Sherlock Holmes

I didn't make it past the pilot. I said 'hey every episode will have a problem that her tattoos will solve'. Just didn't seem interesting. Mrs orange threat watched it but stopped partway through this year citing 'they lost me'

2017-12-29 11:04:51 AM
Agents of Shield being on the list is hardly a surprise... ABC wanted to cancel it after last season but the Mouse said no.  That said I expect it to go after this season but would be happy to be wrong.

2017-12-29 11:06:56 AM
The Nine Nine was great, but I think Michael Schur split too many of his good writers over to The Good Place. Same thing happened to the Simpsons when Futurama started, or Arrow when the Flash started. There's only so much writing talent to go around, and if you have a good group of it, don't get greedy and start a new show and split up the writers' room.

NeedlesslyCanadian: The list:

1. Once Upon A Time --  Watched it with the Ex and ditched them in S3
2. Madam Secretary -- nope
3. Elementary -- watch it and it's good-not-great
4. The Exorcist -- nah
5. Crazy Ex-Girlfriend -- gave up early S3, just don't care anymore
6. Jane the Virgin -- nah
7. Blindspot -- closest thing to a cop show that I watch.  Leads can't act but it's silly entertainment.
8. Brooklyn Nine-Nine -- one of the best comedies on right now
9. Agents of SHIELD -- good fun, hated Ghost Rider
10. The Last Man on Earth -- gave up mid-S2.  I loved the pilot and the idea of a one-man show but...
11. Chance -- "Admit it: You're just now discovering that this Hugh Laurie-headlined thriller ever existed, let alone has been around for two seasons."  Yup.  Will look it up and probably watch the first few eps.

2017-12-29 11:36:01 AM
I still watch Once Upon a Time and yeah, it's time for it to end. They're on their 7th curse or something and most of the old cast is gone. This season is basically a rehash of the first season.

Is this the same Steven Moffat that co-created The Office?

If so, he gets a get out of jail free card for that.

Stephen Merchant is co-creator and writer for The Office.  And Steven "Middle-aged white men are an oppressed minority" Moffat is still a twat.
