It really did, didn't it?
Rosemary was hilarious, so is subby. Nice job!

She was a tough and hilarious old broad. And I mean that in the most complimentary way possible.

I miss the old Hollywood Squares. I was too young to get all the dirty jokes then, but they didn't save much of the tapes of the show. To get my fill of bawdy 70s game show humor, I watch Match Game on GSN.

Come on 2017. We need you to take out one more big hitter, only a few days left...

Match Game was awesome when I was 8 and still great.

The new one sucks. The old one was naughty, "wink-wink". The new one is just kind of sleezy.

If this causes Betty White or Stan Lee to die in the next few days, I'm blaming you.

You may not remember National Lampoon had a running joke about how Ruth Gordon was never going to die.

They saved a lot more than you think. Game shows were always in syndication.

You Tube has a plethora of Paul Lynne and Hollywood Squars videos.

Rose Marie was a bridge between the early century feminist-actress- comedians love like Mae West, Tallulah Bankhead and Kathrine Hepburn. And late century like Joan Rivers, Roseanne Barr, Madeline Kahn and Gilda Radner.

She had to impeccable timing, a take no guff attitude and give back as much as she took.

There was a bitter sweet episode where Sally shares a flirtatious conversation with the food cart guy. Rob and Buddy keeps telling her that they guy likes  her, but she keeps blowing them off. Poor Rob even commented to his wife "He's not her type"

After a few sit-com shenanigans, these two middle age people meet, to hash things out. He explains how much she wasn't to take care of her, that they have fun. She had to do this heart breaking explianation that she know he would be good to her and knows he did love her, but she needed passion, love.. and there was an undercurrent that she didn't want to be a kept woman. That she had her career.

Now this was a character that was always complaining about being alone or her dates/boyfriend being a bust. But she wasn't gonna settle for security.

After he left, she picked up her cat, and with tears in her eyes, "If I had nine lives, I would have given one of them to him"

From her Twitter feed, BTW.

I've not tried it.

I saw the first part of the headline elsewhere and my immediate reaction was

"I hate when they post star of X dies and it is some extra from the third season" then I found out it was Rose Marie and was sad, I had just caught a couple episodes of Dick Van Dyke while I was home over Christmas.

She was an amazing lady.

And a documentary of her life just came out.  She repeatedly praised the movie and people who made it so I'm guessing it must be accurate.

Very limited release of course.  I'm really hoping that it gets a blu-ray and digital release instead of being one of those films that is ignored except for the occasional showing on one of the channels you never watch but are stuck with because it's included in your basic cable package.

I feel a bit guilty, I had just looked her up yesterday to see if she was still alive (after catching an episode of the Dick Van Dyke show) and was pleasantly surprised to see that she was.  Will, she was until my search on IMDB probably put a jinx on her.

"Romance, Roses, and Rye Bread". Episode 101, IIRC.

Anyway, 94 is a hell of a run. And considering she started working at the age of 3, that was a 90 year career.

And here she was just on an episode of Dick Van Dyke on CBS the other night.

You know every documentary or movie that has the shots of the Original Strip in Las Vegas?

Rose Marie filmed it when she was performing in Vegas. She recognized that it was going to change a lot, and she was one of the few people smart enough to record the Golden Age of Vegas.

That sounds like it would resemble my grandmother's sauce. Not enough commercial sauces have a pork base, much less both pork and veal.

The ultimate mom. She was in an episode of The Monkees and voiced Egon's mom in an episode of The Real Ghostbusters.

Ok farkers, pay close attention. Here's Rose Marie answering the "sex quiz" on the Don and Mike show way back when.... (NSFW)

Quiz starts at 1:22:32

From TFA: " she toured in the musical revue 4 Girls 4 with Rosemary Clooney, Helen O'Connell and Margaret Whiting for eight years". WOW, Would have loved to see that group. Incredible singers all.

Also from TFA: "During a visit to CBS affiliate WJW in Cleveland to promote the Van Dyke Show, Marie met Tim Conway, then a local actor doing skits for the station. She became his manager and got the comic his first big job, as a regular on ABC's The Steve Allen Show." So we also have her to thank for the years of laughter caused by the team of Tim Conway and Harvey Korman on Carol Burnett. Thank you Rose Marie and RIP
