I figure your family will know you were in an accident just by virtue of the fact that you were on a motorcycle.

The type of person who thinks this would be a good purchase and the type of person who rides a motorcycle are seldom the same person.

/just kidding, motorcycles are fun as shi@t

So, it will have a GPS that will give the helmets location to the ambulance. Seems smart, but then how do they locate the rest of the body?

There's usually a blood trail.

They should make one that tells the rider they are being a douche bag.

Smart helmet? Where have I heard this before?

https://www.indiegogo.com/projects/skully-ar-1-the-world-s-smartest-motorcycle-helmet#/

Hm. This failure seems to indicate that this was unsuccessful in a country where riders are REQUIRED to wear helmets almost everywhere, and you want to apply a cost-increase to an item in a country that most people don't think they need, much less afford. They all ride bikes 'cuz they're CHEAP.

In short, I applaud your efforts to improve safety, but there's probably a better way than "buy my expensive shiat"

Around here they are just trying to get to the next state over so they can take the helmet off anyway. That way we can just hose the head remains off the road.

They were unsuccessful because the original managers of the company used the kickstarter money to take coke fuel private airplanes across the country and bought hookers a dozen at a time.

They WERE successful in proving there is a market for this type of helmet and there are several new helmets now in development to meet that need.  Including this one from a Japanese company.

/and an investor bought the assets of Skully from the original investors and plans on bringing it to market
//motorcyclist - really want this type of helmet

A helmet is a big ticket item that you only need to buy once every five years-ish, and I'd certainly be willing to spend an extra $100 for this kind of functionality.

It seems like it'd be a good niche for Sena and other companies that make headset communications devices already.

This.

Although you're not supposed to use helmets after dropping them.  Like anyone I know does that.

When you own a motorcycle the question is not if you will lay down the bike but whenyou will lay it down. Every owner I've ever known, even ones that started out on little motor bikes when they were 5, have laid down their bikes. Sure, the degree of damage to the bike and themselves might vary, but it is definitely going to happen.

Truth!

I've laid a bike down three different times, all at thankfully low speeds.  Two were me not paying attention (idiot...) and one was from a huge patch of oil at a 90 degree turn (that was the most damaging to the bike).  None were much more - to my body - than falling off a bicycle.

Every time i would have testified in court that my head never hit the ground but the evidence was right there on the helmet.

/Also happened mountain biking back in 97 (ruptured disk to boot) and I found dents with blue marks on them on my cycling helmet.  The only thing blue within 500 feet was my bicycle.  Damned thing must have hit me in the head while we were tumbling down a hill lol.
//Which would explain a lot

It looks sanded but I found this commentary about it.  I'm not convinced but I'll go as far as to say plausible.

Thanks for sharing that info. We're always on the lookout for things to make us more visible out there.

Of course you still the occasional guy or chick on a bike sitting right smack in someone's blind spot. Hang back so you're seen. Or lane-splitters. I mean there are some stupid people out there. But those people aren't the ones receiving GoFund me accounts because some asshole ran a light at 3 AM and split their skull open and they're in a coma for six months with multiple broken bones.

/yeah it's personal to me
