FSU doesn't deserve to be in a bowl game. Not talking about the 77-6 garbage game, I'm talking about how they rescheduled their cupcake just to get to 6-6

I love being at home on a weekday when the biggest decision I have is whether to jack off and take a nap before the later bowl games or suck it up and sleep tomorrow.

Fark off. Their OOC schedule also included Alabama and a supposed-to-be-back-Florida.  Game should've been rescheduled anyway.

Such a strange season. Insanely good at home against PSU and OSU, then garbage almost every other game.

They are rescheduled.  The hometown depends on the revenue from those games, as do both schools.  And even if they weren't, who cares?  They played more football.

They also lost 35-3 to perennial football powerhouse Boston College.  And lost to NC State.  And came in 5th of 6 in their division (much less conference).  That's not bowl-worthy no matter what their record is.

http://ftw.usatoday.com/2017/12/florida-state-seminoles-bowl-eligible-reddit

It's a combo of Reddit and the USA Today, but it sounds like since the info came so close to the game, that an investigation would be a waste of time. I haven't seen anybody refute that Delaware State did reach the 90% scholarship rule, though. We'll probably never really know if FSU is actually eligible, and it wouldn't surprise me if the NCAA streamlines the rules a bit.

Since this information was so buried due to Delaware State's athletic department turnover, and that rule is so deep in the weeds, it's very possible that FSU didn't know. I have no allegiance either way, but if I were king of the NCAA, I'd allow FSU to play, even if this came months ago.

I wouldn't be surprised if fsu didn't know. They can't exactly come out and say it, though it wold be hilarious if jimbo confirmed it after the game

They'll probably add it to the out of conference contract, at a minimum. I doubt that Delaware State even knew it was a rule, most of r/CFB surely didn't. I would really love to know how the OP on r/CFB even knew to start looking into this.

Now that's a much more compelling argument, and one I really can't debate.  They were a garbage team with a coach with his foot out the door.  But if the bowl season is going to be this watered down, and the money is there, I can't think of many teams not named Notre Dame that would turn down a bowl game.

But even that is based on one redditor's "research" on Delaware State, that, according to FSU, "failed to account for a long-standing NCAA rules interpretation that permits institutions to use academic scholarships and other forms of non-athletics institutional aid received by student-athletes in the computation of this requirement."

Here's
https://www.cbssports.com/college-football/news/florida-state-has-confirmed-it-is-bowl-eligible-able-to-play-in-independence-bowl/

It comes down to a guy on Reddit's word vs. the word of the school.  You won't find any journalist actually doing the legwork to back up the Reddit guy's claim.  The school certainly has a self-interest in refuting the claim, but nobody has yet, so we'll never know.

They were seven points away from eight wins in the ACC. I have no love for FSU, but they are better than other bowl teams (UAB, Toledo, Central Michigan...).

UCF rescheduled their Memphis game, cancelled Maine, and did not reschedule the Georgia Tech game. USF rescheduled UConn but cancelled UMass. Miami did not reschedule Arkansas State. Florida did not reschedule North Colorado.

There's no intrigue in this story for a journalist to backup up Reddit's research. FSU already came out with their interpretation of the rules, so the journalist would need to find other cases, etc. With this rule being so buried and obscure that would be a ton of time for not much reward.

If FSU was shooting up their kids with loads of steroids, that sells papers. A buried, deep rule that nobody's really paid attention to, ever? Not so much.

It'd be like the democrats coming out and saying the recent tax bill was null and void because Trump signed it with a blue pen, not a black one like was stipulated in Senate rule 37,829, section XXVII, subsection Q, clause 4.

In the end, do I care, and will it change anything? Not really. Although it's a slightly amusing story (to me) for a team that was supposed to be competing for the football playoffs, to barely scrape into bowl eligibility.

will be watching the Wildcats v Boilermakers......i really don't get up for college but my wife is a rabid Wildcat fan.  she's had partial season tickets the past 2-3 years.  pretty awesome seats.  and we're going to ASU @ UofA hoops saturday.

a few months ago UofA did an event in ASU's backyard.  Got to meet Rich Rod, Sean Miller, and a few other sport coaches.  and Rich Rod's wife, who is a total MILF.  and rich rod's daughter is a cheerleader.

I'm sorry, but bowl games are a joke now.  There are 40 bowl games for the 130 Division 1 football programs.

New Year's day and the game a week later.  That's all that matters. Everything else gets you a participation trophy.

On the beach. But not on the fluffy part (too hard to run). They play on the wet hardpack between when the tide goes in/tide goes out.
