(Washington Post)   A peek inside the very competitive world of dog breeding, replete with kitchen counter surgeries and $3,000 puppies seized and sold for $65. Best in show, indeed   ( washingtonpost.com) divider line

Huber, meanwhile, said she is already making plans to sell her Pennsylvania home and move her business somewhere more "dog-friendly, which is probably Delaware" - a state that does not regulate ear-cropping. "My market is New York and Philadelphia, where there is money and sophisticated buyers."

Sophisticated buyers know the ears must be cropped without anesthesia. It builds character and character builds champions.

Can we crop her ears?

Screw people who feel the need to surgically alter their dog for appearances to fit some stupid "breed standard". Don't crop ears and don't dock tails.

Not to mention the whole inbreeding and genetic farkery. I'll never give money to a breeder. The best (and healthiest) dog I ever had was a mutt I adopted from the Humane Society.

If only there were an appropriate punishment for such behavior from bad humans...

You despicable goofs can't do something inhumane like cropping a dog's ears without any sort of anesthesia or pain meds, and expect the HUMANE SOCIETY to not do something about it. .

One of my dog's ears is floppy. And he's farking adorable.

fark you, lady. fark anyone who inflicts pain on an animal, and double-fark them if it's to win a competition. I don't give a shiat if they use anesthesia. You ever have surgery, or even stitches? Hurts like a biatch when the meds wear off. This kind of shiat is no different from dog fighting. It's cruel, and the people who do it are sociopaths that should be culled.

Die slowly in a fire.

wiseolddude: Best in Show is a great movie.

It's a great movie but IMO it also did a great disservice by depicting show-dog people as quirky eclectics when in reality a lot of them are just vile narcissists, living a bizarre vicarious existence through the artificially-maintained appearance of their inbred genetic freaks.
