Another thing to keep in mind, song lyrics aren't necessarily meant to apply to the artist who sang them. Unless you think Freddy Mercury actually put a gun to a mans head and pulled the trigger, as he stated in Bohemian Rhapsody. Song lyrics are often meant to appeal to the listeners, and teenagers are a large demographic of popular music.

It's music about youth that's marketed to youth, either to those young enough to still remember it, or young enough to still be experiencing it.

It's normal for teens to fantasize about hot teachers (it's wrong for teachers to engage that way with students). I don't think that song is offensive. I'm not a VH fan, and personally don't like that song.

Only listened to the first bit of the song, so I might be missing something. Is it wrong to reminisce about high school? Is it wrong to sing about two teenagers falling in love? Should we ban speeches at weddings that involve stories about how the couple met in high school?

Alice Cooper was 24 when he sang School's Out. The song was meant to resonate with high school teenagers, he wasn't still in high school himself.

I think subby was insinuating that the song is about a 24-year-old dating a high school girl, but it's not. It's a song aimed at high school age teens and the story is about two teens in love in high school.

Some people think that all songs are autobiographical, instead of just stories. Subby must also think Gordon Lightfoot was on the Edmund Fitzgerald when it sank.

Yeah so this may be shocking, but songs aren't usually autobiographies. More often than not they are written to be meaningful to the intended audience.

Well Subby I couldn't listen very far because that song was so lame so I didn't get the 'full message' but by all accounts this seems to be a song about a High School romance between two kids in HS so it looks like you are fishing for outrage in an empty pond.
