Her claim is incredibly creepy: she wouldn't let him see her naked alone, so he manipulated things so she felt compelled to do nude scenes in Frida.  So everybody could see her.

What an absolute skid mark of a human being he is.

I love that so much.

I'm a middle-age guy, 195 lbs. I took Krava Maga classes for a few years, co-ed, all ages. Everybody had to fight everybody.

I know a lot of small young women who will punch your throat and shove an elbow in your eye socket if you cross the line.

is this the thread where I go to objectify the woman who was systematically victimised by an industry designed to objectify her?

2017-12-14 06:08:35 AM
In his statement, Weinstein said he "did not recall pressuring Salma to do a gratuitous sex scene with a female costar and he was not there for the filming. However, that was part of the story, as Frida Kahlo was bisexual and the more significant sex scene in the movie was choreographed by Ms. Hayek with Geoffrey Rush."

There it is again! It's the 'he didn't do it and it's OK that he did it because reasons'. defence. I call it the Moore defence, and that's the second time I've seen it in an article on Fark in the last half hour alone.

Personally I believe any victim of any crime has a responsibility to report it or crime will never stop. Most convicted criminals I know have told me they would have never dreamed of victimizing another person if they knew someone else had already gone to jail for it.

In addition, women who choose to advance their careers despite sexual harassment are very rare and should be condemned in instances when they do so. Most women by adulthood haven't existed in a culture of sexual harassment to which they've grown accustomed.

Even as I guy I understand that if she had come out about this at the time the best response she could have hoped for was to become the butt of a bunch of casting couch jokes on late night TV.

Also, one of the trademarks of a serial abuser is that they are very good at making the victim feel like they are somehow responsible for what happened.

OTOH she IS married to a billionaire, which means he could probably hire a couple of guys named Vinny to pay Harvey a visit and break his legs and/or dick, and do it without seriously denting his walking around money.  Given that "Vinny" is not a noted respector of the Statute Of Limitations, I think it's defintiely an option worth looking into at this point

I don't get it, I really don't. By that I mean I do not understand how there is a demographic of people who genuinely believe that power, as a means of influence and control, is anywhere near a level playing field and that speaking out immediately is magically free of repercussions and life altering changes.

I'm not white knighting anyone but I fail to understand how that same demographic does not understand that coming forward and being frank about your experience is not only brutally difficult but also intensely personal that often times rips open old wounds leading to fresh, additional trauma. How can anyone legitimately not understand that?

Before anyone Welcome to Farks me, I know we're all a bunch of jaded, cynical, sardonic, and sarcastic assholes. I've been around a long time. Even so, even a shred of decency would allow you to see why events are currently unfolding the way they are.

You're all wrong. Either women can stand up for themselves, for the last 20+ years, or they cannot.

The men are pigs, yet equality actually means doing something to fix the problem.

My point is the powerful women who are speaking up now have abdicated their morality for waiting this long.

Perhaps you should consider that in this society, even a woman as "powerful" as Selma Hayek has not been powerful enough to confront the Harvey's of the world, who have far more power.

They've clearly never been assaulted, raped, or molested or been in a position where they were not always in control of the actions of those around them.

What these men who rape don't understand is they ruin their victims for eternity and all future intimate relationships. Colognes, colors, scents, words that trigger the flashbacks...it's all real and it's all damaging to future intimacy.

Maybe if they thought of rape as cockblocking other men they'd farking knock it off because every stud needs a wingman, right?

fark you. He was one of the most powerful men in Hollywood, and held the fate of her very personal project in his hands. Like a lot of women, she spent years thinking that allowing him to treat her any way he pleased was the price she had to pay to have the career she worked very hard to get. It shouldn't be that way. Powerful men, in any business, should not use the power to make or break women's careers as leverage to be farking creeps, and the shame the women feel afterwards is what keeps them silent and allows the abuse to continue. And you are part of making that shame a reality by dismissing this as her just looking out for herself. So, again, fark you.

Holy shiat there is so much wrong with this sentence.

Ok, firstly.  Selma Hayek isn't powerful, she's famous.  She is a well known actress, but that pales compared to a studio executive who controls the chequebook.

Secondly, "abdicating morality".  What does that even mean?  Does it mean she now has no morals?  Or is it just the ones relating to sexual assault?  Because this sounds like nothing more than your typical rectally derived sentence that sounds fancy and means nothing

Thirdly, how long she waited.  This relates directly to the first point.  Weinstein was one of the most powerful men in the entertainment industry.  If she had come forward how fast would her career been torpedoed?  How long until Harvey's freinds in the tabloids were smearing her?  Hell, just look at the attempts to assassinate the character of the women speaking out against Trump.

Thank you.

This is what I was trying to draw out all along.

Now that we have the tone set, when will virtually every Liberal, media organization, and Democratic apologist admit they threw numerous women under the bus, Bill Clinton is a rapist, and Hillary is a victim-bashing power hungry harpie?

/I believe virtually all of the accusers and am glad these guys are being exposed.
//Just admit you all were part of the problem surrounding ol' Bill and his sack of shiat protecting wife.
