Fun Fact:  Melbourne was almost named "Batmania" after its co-founder John Batman.

Well that's ok, I'm sure they can all just wait till the bicentennial

Fake news everyone knows Australia didn't exist in 1865 and we're still not sure if it's actually a real place or not

In their defence everyone was probably too drunk to remember.

Both when the town was established and when it was time to celebrate.

It's not like they had concussion protocol back then.

Well, they're not going to be able to get a 100% completion of "Bioshock".

It was probably that period they used Reich years that threw them off the modern count.

What are you talking about?  Australia was founded in 1804 and can trace back its origins to 976 with the Magraviate of Australia.  The Capital city of Vienna can trace its origins all the way back to 500 BC!

It's a fake country designed to fool people because that's where the coral reef wall is protected by the world government  to hide the fact the Earth is really flat

No law against having a 153rd anniversary celebration.

Meh, why not go all in silly and have a 153rd anniversary celebration. Because it's an odd story, you'll get plenty of free publicity and more coverage than a 150th

"Welcome to the third anniversary of our one hundred and fiftieth anniversary!" sounds like something Aussies would get a chuckle from.

Ha, maybe they did have a 150th anniversary party, just no one remembers it after the collective blackout drunk.

So have the shindig and have fun with it.  Have a big sign proclaiming the date, with an intentionally awkward, hastily scrawled edit:

Poke fun at yourselves, get your drink on, and just roll with it.

"It was the biggest shock to all of us, I can tell you"

Many Shuvs and Zuuls knew what it was to be roasted in the depths of the Slor that day, I can tell you!

Too busy drinking, head-butting, singing Waltzing Mathilda and trying to count how many teeth left in the town, but it kept changing on them.

Hey now, they're talking about Charleville, not Collingwood.

What really struck me, was the photo of the street..That looks like it could be any rural town in
the midwest U.S. . A wide mail street with pull up parking with nice brick storefronts and awning over
the sidewalk..Picket fences..

They should have their party anyway..And maybe start a new tradition of having their party on an
odd year, just because..Make it whimsical..It's a celebration anyway..

Only three years late? That's pretty good for Queensland.

Funny but not a deal killer, they made a mistake, welcome to the human condition, incorporate the error into the planned festivities and enjoy yourselves.

/can I retroactively change my dad's birthplace to Perth?

Yeah as mentioned they should roll with it and make it their thing.  If they are doing decades celebrate the 163rd, 173rd etc.   Or if quarter centuries are to their tastes, 178th and so forth.

Arbitrary celebration of 0 numbers is of limited sense beyond our decimal counting system and even more so for anything that is over a century.

150 is a great achievement!!! 151, meh, who cares?

Anyone ever consider that all these mistakes were done by people that did, in fact, have MORE than one job?
