Yanks still need starting pitching that will get them deep into games.  Hoping to squeeze 5 innings out of your starter before giving it over to the bullpen is going to wear those relievers out.

White Sox fan here.  I've done the scouting, and I believe we need more wins than losses.  So hopefully management will get that sort of thing done.

Look for Orioles executive vice president of baseball operations Dan Duquette to try to add several quality starters

I'd settle for several mediocre starters.  O's were dead last in starter ERA.  In fact, add a couple of sub-par starters and it could only help.

My analysis is that the Rockies need to trade for better ownership. We'll give you two Monforts for a Ricketts of your choice, one of Peter Angelos' smarter teenage kids, and a vial of George Steinbrenner's frozen sperm.

Cubs have made a couple of solid pickups with Chatwood and Morrow. Now the question is, can they land a #3 or better-type starter and a lot more bullpen help without trading more than one position player? Rizzo, Bryant and Contreras are probably untouchable, and I doubt they'd find someone willing to take on Heyward's contract, so that means at least one out of Schwarber, Russell, Baez, Happ or Almora could be moved. Zobrist is under contract for two more seasons, but at 37, he'll probably be better suited to 3-4 starts a week to give the other guys a day off. Although he's probably their best leadoff option on the roster now.

There's a lot wrong with rooting for the white sox hating the Cubs.

We could use a bat or two. And a pitcher who can pitch in the postseason. And a reliever or two. Preferably for the last two, ones that don't beat their wives despite sharing a name with one of the most chill comedians ever.

Rockies "general manager Jeff Bridich comes to the Meetings with money to spend"

AHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHA no, he doesn't, because the Rockies are owned by the Monforts.

Rangers need SP, this is not a repeat from the last 12 years.  Oh, wait, yes it is.

Braves need everything except a 1st baseman ideally an entire baseball operations staff, a stadium in Atlanta, and something to plug the massive black hole of suck at 3b.

If over the course of these meeting, MLB doesn't force the Wilpons to sell the Mets, then they should just delete the team. Can't even spend $150M on payroll for a team based in NYC with the crap tactic ticket prices you charge? fark you, Fred and Jeff...

If Cobb is interested, I don't see a need for major trades. With Morrow coming as an exclamation-point, I don't think they have more remaining bullpen needs than can be found on the free agent scrap heap.

I'd give Almora a shot at leadoff. His contact level and doubles power might make him better at #2, but he was one hit shy of batting .300 in his first full year on the roster. He has speed that hasn't been used as well. I think he'll be one of the guys who eventually shapes my opinion of hiring Chili Davis as a hitting coach.

And I'd be shopping Zobrist next July, playing him just enough to keep in game shape. Every year there are desperate contenders who could use a switch-hitting veteran utility man with solid postseason experience, and one of them might be willing to take on an extra year. On a day-to-day basis I see Happ offering the same versatility but with more power and room for growth, and there's only so much game time to go around.

I hear Mike Moustakas (sp) and Todd Frazier are available.

Already? Jeter's signature is barely dry on the paperwork...

Anyway, Astros fan here, so I have basically nothing to complain about for at least two months.

Yeah, I think they can find a FA starter if they want one, but i doubt it would be anyone good enough to knock Lester, Quintana and Hendricks from the top of the rotation. And maybe a number 4 type is all they need, particularly if they think they've got a starter in their system who could make the 25 man roster at some point in 2019.

The bullpen right now is a bunch of guys who were there at some point last year, and Morrow. I'd be happier with a little more depth, including another veteran arm with some closing experience. Maybe a John Axford-type, but not, you know, coming off the worst season of his career.

I agree about Almora, he could be an effective leadoff guy if he develops a little more patience at the plate. Happ might also work there, since he's already a little more patient, but has more holes in his swing. I wouldn't be surprised if those guys were 1-2 in the order at some point in their careers.
