Looks like it's all on Nick Foles' back.

2017-12-10 11:39:42 PM
And the Giants didn't do anything worth a damn today.

NFC East sucks.

2017-12-10 11:44:43 PM
Technically not, as they haven't officially said it's an ACL, but...it's not looking good.

Where's Jeff Garcia when you really need him?

Welp, there goes my fantasy season. In a farking bye week no less.

Dammit, I came here to post this exact same thing.

Was it over when the Germans bombed Pearl Harbor?

Nah.  NFC as a whole is deeply flawed.  Now I don't think Foles can win a SB but the eagles can get there with him.

2017-12-11 12:04:04 AM
On Sunday Night Football, Tony Dungy said that Philadelphia can still get to the Super Bowl without whence, but probably couldn't win it. I think that's what he said anyway.

2017-12-11 12:07:26 AM
Nick Foles is decent enough. A few seasons ago, he threw for 7 TDs and was overshadowed by Roethlisberger doing the same.
I love my Eagles, I hope Wentz is OK, and I trust Foles to continue the season.

2017-12-11 12:11:51 AM
Hope he's okay, and can recover fully.  Not an Iggles fan, but always hate to see any player really hurt, and Wentz is awesome to watch play.

Drinking warm Coors on a porch somewhere with Trent Dilfer.

This.

Yes, I hate the Eagles with the fire of a million suns, but I wish injury on nobody. I hope he comes back fully and continues to lead the Eagles to heights just shy of a Super Bowl victory.

NFC is a bit weird, there's a ton of offense (or defense in the case of the Vikings) but there's also obvious flaws in every club. Still, you'd assume that those flaws wouldn't be a problem in a SB where aggressiveness can cover up said flaws, but you never know.

Seems like just yesterday I paid to confirm my season ticket seats for the playoffs.

Oh, wait, it was last Monday.

styckx: Did everyone forget Foles lead the Eagles to win the NFC East but a few odd years ago?

Absolutely but he came back to the pack after the 2013 season.
The defense needs to really keep the eagles in the game.  With wentz out, Jason peters absence will be felt even more.

Nah, they just announced a tour even without Glenn Frey.

2017-12-11 12:40:23 AM
Vikes season was over and then Bradford had the best Week 1 of any QB. Then their season was over again and Keenum played like one of the best QBs in the league. Eagles are still good with Foles. It's not like he's Lindley. I seem to remember Foles had a 7 TD game...yep, Nov. 3, 2013, 22-for-28, 406 yards, 7 TDS, 0 INTs and I think even led the league in QB rating that season. Eagles have a lot of weapons. Ertz gets hurt and two different TEs catch TDs today. One of them caught 2. I'm not shedding any tears for Eagles fans

2017-12-11 12:43:59 AM
Figured it was the MCL since he was able to walk and move around immediately afterwards.  You could tell he had no lateral mobility the second play after when he was going to pass and had 10 seconds and did his best Drew Bledsoe statue in the pocket impersonation

2017-12-11 12:44:26 AM
Remember when Nick Foles had one of the better seasons an Eagles QB has ever had?

I remember Dennis Dixon in college. He played with a knee injury in a game against Arizona, until he all of a sudden didn't. Sort of like the RG3 injury.

You spelled Peyton Manning wrong.

2017-12-11 12:58:52 AM
I am not willing to count the Eagles completely out.  Foles has shown signs of life over the years and with the better running game and that defense, they could make a run in the playoffs.  If Trent Dilfer and an ancient Peyton Manning can hoist a trophy, maybe Foles can.

Vikings gain on the misery of yet another team?

2017-12-11 02:01:07 AM
I hope the Vikings make it only because I haven't seen the Vikings lose a Super Bowl in a long time and I kind of miss that. I'd like to see them play the Chargers cause I think it'd be hilarious to see a team that played in a 25k seat home stadium win the SB.

If the Vikings make it to the Owl, it is a home game.

Dammit all so much.

2017-12-11 05:30:33 AM
Really entertaining game to that point.  It seems for both teams you just get the ball quickly outside the tackles with 1 or 2 extra blockers and you can gain 20 yards almost every time.

2017-12-11 06:10:54 AM
And yet, you still see college and pro players saying "Nah, I don't need knee pads."

2017-12-11 06:45:39 AM
Statistically, Foles had the best year by any QB ever a few years back when he had 27tds to 2 ints.  But nobody knows what happened to that QB.

I hate to say it, but as an Eagles fan I was waiting for this.  The franchise is snakebit, and I knew things were going too well.  I just hope he makes it back next year at 100%.

2017-12-11 07:39:38 AM
Aha!  Once again, the Deshonne Kizer heavy portfolio pays off for the hungry franchise!

Quick!  Tell me how much my Deshonne Kizer is worth!

If the Eagles make it it will almost be a home game.  Wentz is from Bismarck ND (6 hours away from Minny) and played college at NDSU (3 hours from Minny).  North Dakota has never had as many Eagles fans as they do now.  I was really hoping for an Eagles/Vikes NFC Championship game just to see how much ND would implode wondering who to root for.

Have we reached a point where strength and conditioning have gone too far for the human body to handle?

That season was great, true. But if the TD / INT ratio is your criteria, Brady had 28 TDs and 2 INTs last year with a higher completion percentage. Not trying to be a Pats homer, just pointing it out.

Locals don't go to the Owl anyway.  No casual or even rabid Viking fan is paying the 1500$ or whatever for a nosebleed.

You mean when he was traded to the Jeff Fisher-coached Rams? (As an Eagles fan, I still don't know why that trade happened)  The team is better with Wentz, obviously, but Foles is a perfectly good NFL QB.

We have for several years now, ask JJ Watt. He more or less tore his lower body away from his upper half with the number of core muscle tears and strains he had after last season, and now he is injured again. This is only going to get worse until we develop carbon fiber ligaments/tendons, or we can use surrogate replaceable bodies like that one Bruce Willis movie.

2017-12-11 08:43:32 AM
This is such horrendous news if he is actually out for the season. I wanted to see how they did against these last two teams because they actually have winning records, and the rest of the Eagles schedule had been easy. They played well yesterday, and I think they're still capable of winning a game in the playoffs with Foles.

About the same as Nick Foles who sat out the first 4 games of 2013 as well.

Yes, but that wasn't what happened with this one. Wentz had two 300lb men hit his legs at the same time.

Watching that game live, I really Wentzed when he got hit at the goal line. Your career won't be long if you keep doing that.

I don't know what conditioning has to do with taking unnecessary shots, as for JJ he wore his body out by over-training for years. I do think guys playing on artificial turf with long-studded cleats so they can cut harder - combined with an increase in body mass more than ligament strength - is having an effect.
