Yeah, no more renewals here either.

2017-12-07 10:30:47 AM
Maybe they can round out their lineup with some rapists and serial killers.

2017-12-07 10:32:52 AM
Honestly, Sirius/XM started sucking years ago when they started compressing the audio streams to add more stations.  Sure, it was near CD quality at first, but it's sounded like crap for years now.

2017-12-07 10:45:08 AM
Satellite radio broadcasts on AM frequencies now?

2017-12-07 10:48:07 AM
Just cancelled my account with SiriusXM.

Nah, nobody listens to Glenn Beck anymore.

Well, I guess SiriusXM thinks the Fox News mouth breathers are where the real money is to be made.

Good luck with that.

2017-12-07 12:25:07 PM
Been meaning to cancel for a while. This certainly makes it easy.

2017-12-07 12:27:58 PM
Well, time to cancel.

2017-12-07 01:11:50 PM
Not sure if Sirius.

2017-12-07 01:12:48 PM
I guess I'll continue to not subscribe.

2017-12-07 01:14:21 PM
What are they planning to pay Bannon with? 40 ounce bottles of Steel Reserve?

2017-12-07 01:15:27 PM
SiriusXM already has the Patriot station which keeps the derp in one place.  Adding another clown like Bannon won't make a difference.

2017-12-07 01:16:20 PM
They'll never see a penny of my money now.

2017-12-07 01:17:10 PM
So Sirius has white supremacist stations.  Good to know.

It came free for six months with one of my cars. We drive through some in-between places, so we tried it out. It sounds wretched. We never even touched it after that.

Side note--maybe it's time car companies are pressured not to include this add-on? It's one thing if it's useless, another if it's funding fascists.

2017-12-07 01:20:02 PM
Uh, subby, they will.  Do we really need to list off the far right dipshiat radio hosts with large followings?  Republicans are deplorable assholes.  They want to listen to other deplorable assholes on the radio.

2017-12-07 01:21:33 PM
I'm considering dropping them anyway. Their music selection has become a slightly better Clearchannel inspired playlist, no matter the genre. The Progressive stations went all "Woke AF" as opposed to being a place to go for good conversations and so on.

2017-12-07 01:21:57 PM
Bannon does have a face for radio.

Judging by political leaning of the top radio shows in the US, then yes there's a ton of money to be made in that demographic.

Grand_Moff_Joseph: Yeah, no more renewals here either.

plecos: Just cancelled my account with SiriusXM.

Meh. I don't ever listen to any of the news stations, even the fake news ones. Don't listen to the talk stations either. I have it for music and don't bother with this shiat. Or I wouldn't have ever gotten it since it helps fund that Howard Stern jackass, or I would have done it years ago when they basically handed over the punk station to that Jason Ellis tool. I don't have to sit through 20 minute commercial blocks or listen to yammering drivetime DJs, and it comes in the entire part of my trip no matter where I go. They're going to have people, viewpoints, even entire channels that I don't approve of. They have plenty that I do approve of, so I'm good.

2017-12-07 01:24:03 PM
I dumped XM not long after the merger and the downsizing of their playlists. Wish I could cancel them again now.

Clearchannel playlists....are they the reason why I hear the same 50 songs over and over again by the same 20 artists over and over again?  Boston, Def Leppard, ACDC, Aerosmith over and over again?  Does a DJ even get to choose anymore?

Hope you told them why.

2017-12-07 01:25:55 PM
I've been an XM and/or Sirius subscriber since the beginning and I might have to reconsider. I could probably use my subscription money to add to my data plan and listen to something else.

2017-12-07 01:28:15 PM
Whatever. SiriusXM is in the business of selling subscriptions. Like it or not, hate sells. We should work at making such content unmarketable. That would be a real change for good.

2017-12-07 01:29:11 PM

BunkyBrewman: Honestly, Sirius/XM started sucking years ago when XM merged with Sirius and basically adopted all of Sirius's programming.

XM before the merger was much more eclectic and had more interesting and varied music stations (e.g., world, punk). Sirius merger got rid of all of those and most of the channels left got celebrity branding. So no longer alt-country but "Willie Nelson's Roadhouse", no longer vocal classical music, but "Met Opera" only, and lots of single-artist stations (It's all AC/DC all the time, all Grateful Dead channel, and so forth). And they cancelled the Bob Edwards show, which was one of the best morning talk shows around.

My old car had a lifetime subscription, but they wouldn't let me transfer it when I replaced it. Didn't bother to renew. Don't really miss it thanks to modern streaming services and podcasts. Too bad about those expensive satellites when cell data does the same thing.

2017-12-07 01:33:34 PM
The only two channels I listen to are Howard 100 and 101. Once Stern retires I'll happily unsubscribe.

Same here.  It's a lot harder for the saves department to browbeat you into another deal when they have to respond to "You gave a channel to a neo-Nazi".

SiriusXM is a subscription service. Your racist uncle can hear Rushbo for free.

I've been on the fence forever.   Great metal and jazz stations, but this kinda crap?   None of my money is going into Bannon's pocket if I can help it.

2017-12-07 01:35:34 PM
So are they giving Anthony Cumia his job back?

I do not want to hear Stryper when I tune to a channel touting Iron Maiden, Judas Priest and Sabbath.

Sirius XM is awesome until there's a tree near the side of the road.

2017-12-07 01:38:17 PM
Cancelled mine.  In fairness, I rarely made any use of it anyway and should have cancelled it some time ago.  But this was the perfect opportunity and I made sure to tell them it was because of Bannon.

I received a complimentary account when I purchased my Hyundai back in 2011 (don't be jealous).
I let the account expire, that's when the mail started coming. they started out at $100 for a year, I did not respond. eventually after about a year, they were down to $20 for a year, I wasn't happy about that as they had obviously been trying to screw me with their initial offers.
my word of advice to Sirius XM (other than to skip offering the Nazi rhetoric) is to start with a lower number OR never offer the same service for 1/5 of your original asking price. I was insulted.

2017-12-07 01:43:25 PM
Been a subscriber for a long time now. I'm thinking it's time to explore some other options. Anyone familiar with Aha Radio? It came installed on my Subaru, but I never looked twice at it.

2017-12-07 01:44:08 PM
Yeah, probably time to cancel. My previous car had it built in, had 9 months free, and then subscribed. The current car doesn't have it, and they sent me a radio kit, and I almost quit when they wanted to charge me $30 to transfer to the new radio.
But the car doesn't have an auxiliary input and the FM transmitter is crap. I didn't even listen to it on my most recent road trip this week.

Fark em.

I fully support the right of each political side to have their own channel on SiriusXM, but they must both stop liking things I don't like.    I've had SiriusXM since 2006 when it came in my Jeep.  There is no way that local stations would even try to provide me with the variety.   The rock station I grew up listening too is no Rush Radio, and don't even know what the local stations are outside of WWOZ are  anymore.  I'm listening to music in French from Canada right now.   Yesterday was Bluegrass for a bit and then Spa later at work.     I recall just about one spot with poor reception, and that was right next to an airport.   Finding music cross country before sucked.

I will not be renewing. The only thing I really listen to is the fantasy football guy in the mornings for brief stretches at a time so (Powers Boothe "bye" pic here).

As said above, what was once CD-quality now sounds like crap. With Bannon it will now sound like...what's late 1930s German for 'crap?'

If memory serves, the last DJ went from KLOS to satellite. ( JIm Ladd ) . And Tom also had his own channel.

I don't know why anyone cares when you can get Tunein and listed to any station you want for free.  You can have 9,000 AM derp options.

Seriously, it's not a selling point for you two clowns, but it's a selling point for 30 million subscribers. It's probably why he's worth $600 million.
Stern is the reason I won't drop SiriusXM. But once he retires, my subscription ends.
