That explains soooo much about those teams. All dudes from The U, as well.

/#21 would've been the GOAT. No doubt.

"Portis also said the practice was never a problem until Jim Zorn took over as Redskins coach in 2008, a few months after Taylor's passing, and questioned the tradition. Moss added that Zorn lost the locker room from that point on."

Christ, what the hell is wrong with these idiots from the U?  Drinking before a game is basically the opposite of what a professional football player should be doing, and a coach who finds out about it and lets it happen is not doing his job.  There are a billion legitimate reasons why Zorn lost the confidence of the players and management, but if stopping THIS was one of them, that's ridiculous.

If I take their story at face value and it was just one shot, what difference does it make?  Getting sloppy wasted before a game?  Yes, very unprofessional.  A single shot of liquor for a guy that size isn't going to move the needle a whole lot.

And anyway, it's not like Moss could run far on routes. The QB at the time was Jason "Noodle Arm" Campbell, wasn't he?

Jason Campbell was 6'5'' and 235. He wasn't noodle armed. He sucked, but for other reasons. You may be thinking of Mark Brunell, who left his arm in Jacksonville (which I think is either a country song or a Tribe Called Quest song, can't remember which).

Ack. Brunell. The Latter-Day Gibbs/Zorn offenses were shockingly putrid with him under center, almost as bad as the Giants with Brown at QB. Their plays were as creative and field-stretching as something from 1905. I'm still wondering what happened to Gibbs, given that his earlier stint had great offenses and were fun to watch.

/Loved watching Zorn when he was a QB. Lefty QBs make things interesting.

I read a thing by Madden years back. Fred would get the butterflies so bad before games that he'd puke. Then drink a glass of vodka to settle down.  It wasn't a party thing.

Ok. Thanks for the feedback. Still remember him catching uncatchable balls. Maybe not Odell Beckham uncatchable but for the era he was one of the best.

Though an Oakland fan at the time that was nonetheless an incredible finish. But a few years later I had to suffer thru the Raiders playoff win over NE in '76.

I agree. He's decent, but the Sewer Rat needs to be played by a guy 6'5 or more.

No kidding. I understand why no one who has read the books is ok with Cruise. But for anyone who has read them? No way.

David Morse. Howie Long. Jim Caviezel.Trace Adkins. Any of them would be better. I'm sure Child signed off on it knowing Cruise would sell more tickets than the aforementioned. (and other actors that haven't come to mind)

Guess it's how you define "a few bucks".    I thought I read it was 9 figures.

$100,000,000 (at least?) That seems kinda high for movie rights to a book.

He (Cruise) bought the rights to the Franchise. All, exclusive, forever. (2) movies in, pretty sure the 3rd is on it's way. If they got 6? 7? out of the Fast and Furious nonsense, they'll get 10 movies out of Reacher. $10 mil ave each, will prove to be a bargain.

Ok, after my post I reflected that yes, maybe that 9 figure sum was for ALL future Reacher movies. Thank you for the clarification.

//still wish Cruise wasn't Reacher and will never watch them :)
