True, but they were somewhat distracted and not able to concentrate fully.

And, after the Winter War was the Continuation War...

Besides, things are a little wee bit different now.

I was there last summer (for only a short while, sadly), and I found it very lovely.

Have fun, Kitty! It's a pretty city.
But prepare for rain! Even in summer it was wet half the time.

Also, I highly recommend a little restaurant called Konstan Möljä.
Run by a little Finnish grandma. Not fancypants. Buffet style, with great comfort food.
Dark beer, hot salmon soup, and roast reindeer was awesome on a rainy day.

Er, you forgot the most important stat:

Simo "Simuna" Häyhä:
"Using a Finnish-produced M/28-30 rifle (a variant of the Mosin-Nagant rifle) and the Suomi KP/-31 submachine gun, he is reported by western sources to have killed 505 men during the 1939-40 Winter War, the highest recorded number of sniper kills in any major war."

Another cool thing about Finland is that it is a short, cheap ferry ticket over to Estonia.
Estonia is ALSO amazing, and the booze is much cheaper.
On the way back I saw tons of Finns wheeling literal shopping carts and furniture dollies of beer and liquor off the ferry.

Pretty much.

Arkadia Hill (Parliament) however tends to suffer from what I call the "Yankee contagion". They're losing touch with the regular folks and are also somewhat turning rightward...and it's beginning to cause harm.

Finland is not Heaven. It is not perfect. But it is still damn nice.

I hope they will learn from us and not make the same mistakes we have made.

They lost the first Winter War too.  That "interim peace" doesn't mention that it really means "losing 5% of their territory and their second-most populous city"...the exact goals the Soviet Union set out to do in the first place.  Winter War fellators always leave out how the war actually ended.

NEDM: Winter War fellators always leave out how the war actually ended.

That's because it's largely beside the point.  Americans think of Finland as some softie pinko librul country and they're half right; it's a social welfare state, but they are NOT soft.  Invade Finland and they will take a pound of flesh.  You can defeat them, and Russia did, but there are only two or three nations in the world capable & willing to pay the price for such a victory, and really only because they're large nations run by authoritarian psychopaths (Russia still being one unfortunately).

The Winter War was basically Stalin attacking a chihuahua and eventually beating it into submission, but not before getting his pecker torn off in front of everybody.  He basically kept throwing soldiers and tanks at Finland until the outcome was inevitable because at a certain point it was just too humiliating for an egomaniac to lose to an upstart backwater country.  It was the ultimate crapfest because while Finland ceded much of what they couldn't afford to lose, the Soviets paid ten times the price they figured to save by securing Karelia.

As I remember the whole thing ended with Britain deciding not to send buttloads of weaponry to Finland, ensuring they were out of ammo and guns.

Dimtards saying Finland lost is sort of like branch dildodians saying they beat the US government into submission because they occupied an unguarded shack in the middle of nowhere. The odd thing is these same people also never seem to point out that the Russians didn't meet their objective. Unless the objective was to bleed profusely on Finnish soil for little return. You can't win an unwinnable war, you can only hope to remain sovereign. Finland lost the battle, but remained sovereign. If we had lost the war, we wouldn't be having this thread.
