Three best games of the year are Prey, Breath of the Wild, and PlayerUnknown's Battlegrounds.  The end.  Anyone who disagrees probably plays videogames with the graphics on.

Horror games or console games mostly, didn't pick any of them up, with no regrets.

The fact that you can get the perk "Stupid Walking" within the first 10 seconds of play seals the deal.

Video games are for nerdy little man-children.  You are all lesser beings for taking pleasure in playing them and I feel sorry for your mothers.  Now that I have properly expressed my disgust, I leave you to wallow in your own purulence.

Oh, VIDEO games.

I was hoping to get some opinions on Paranoia: Red Clearance Edition.  I'll ask again in Friday's thread.  :)

And only 2 of the 15 titles are games that appeal to kids.  Both Nintendo, naturally.  My how times have changed.

I thought the lootbox was the best game of 2017?

You have to get back the American Girl doll I assume...

Yeah, I'd honestly swap Assassin's Creed Origins for PUBG on that list.  PUBG had its flaws, but it's still a game that has popularized a new genre and will likely have more of a lasting influence than Origins.

Glad to see Night In the Woods though and hope lists like this get more people to check it out.  Absolutely loved the story in that game and it's stuck with me more than other games.  It's not much of a game as it is an interactive story, but I'll recommend it to anyone who wants a good use of their time and money.

solid list. 2017 has been a great year for video games. agree that AssCreed Oranges probably doesn't belong. instead maybe PUBG? D:OS2? Nier:Automata?

Hopefully within the next 3 months I will have a PC capable of playing a few of these.

Uh oh, now you did it.  Here we go with folks complaining that PUBG wasn't actually a 2017 game because it's still not technically in 'early access'.

I'm not a big fan of horror thrillers, so this list doesn't mean a lot to me. I may play AC: Origins at some point, but I'm going to have to make myself go back and finish AC: Black Flag first. I will probably get Syndicate before Origins too. I would probably play the new Zelda game, but it would basically be the only reason that I own a Nintendo console. I'm just not a big console gamer. I don't really have anything against them.

6 Months for me.

I had such high hopes for Andromeda.
Its the reason I bought an Xbone. And I'm awfully cheap so I usually won't buy a game unless it's on sale. I'm hoping that the Isle Of Man game actually gets released in 2018 and delivers.
I also might splurge and get the Road Rash Expy on Steam.

Grabbed Horizon Zero Dawn Complete today, really looking forward to diving in later!

Anybody recommend the best non-FPS for PS4? Almost done w/ Uncharted 4... pretty solid but I think I preferred the 3rd one, actually.

My fave from earlier this year was Shovel Knight... freaking awesome and difficult.

/Grew up on Nintendo

I really want them to come out with a PC version so badly.

I have heard good things about Uncharted: Lost Legacy, and I am seriously in love with Horizon Zero Dawn. So beautiful. I've also heard good things about Nier Automata. And I've got friends who swear by (and at) Cuphead. Oh, and Persona 5 is supposed to be incredible.

Cuphead is not on PS4, but the other games you listed are good.

I would add Sonic Mania since Shovel Knight and Nintendo were mentioned. Also Fallout 4 and Skyrim if you never had/played them on another system.

Looking at gameplay videos and such, it looks like it might be the kind of game where the greater inherent precision of mouse aiming and the less precise movement of keyboard controls would completely wreck the intended feel of play and the difficulty curve.

We'll get a port eventually, because it was successful and that always happens, but usually when this is the case it takes a while for them to find settings they like well enough to republish.

The game of the year, for the 18th year in a row, was Diablo II.

I just finished Sexy Brutale, which is a good as everyone says. I thought the time change mechanic would be tricky, but it's really very straightforward.

I plan on getting Edith Finch, probably at the next Steam sale.
