Is this where we complain about not liking how people are trying to help other people?

Because that's useful.

It's almost like some of these groups don't really want help for the unfortunate and underprivileged. They just want to be angry at someone.

I can't help but wonder to what degree those who are actually getting their lives saved really give a sh*t who's doing the saving. And whether they really need "allies" whose sole contribution is being offended on their behalf.

How dare people be individually moved.  He should not care for these people until he's able and prepared to solve all of their issues in mutually agreeable way to the entire global community.  His empathy is evil.

Boo hoo hoo. Some singer made a charity video where he didn't solve the problem of the uneven geographic distribution of resources. What an asshole!

"The video should be less about Ed shouldering the burden alone but rather appealing to the wider world to step in...Is Ed Sheeran willing to pay for the boy's housing forever? What an irresponsible thing to do, and for this video to glorify that is terrible."

Uh, what?

What in the actual fark am I reading.  Is this satire?   Is the complaint here "your contribution didn't perma-solve all the problems, therefore you're a terrible person" ?

And fark was ready and able to take that ridiculous narrative up immediately.  Funny, that.

Which is why most people don't even try. No matter what or how you do it, some arsehole has a problem with it.

Critica of charity should be raped by a gorilla.

Does this happen with any actor who you recognize from something else or some prior work?  Did you have trouble with Lena Headey as Cercei because every time she was on screen you were expecting killer robots from the future to show up?

The problem here isn't the pop singer's generosity, but the message the video sends by focusing on Sheeran's small-scale intervention

Fark you.  That small-scale intervention is the foundation for long term change.  I sponsor children in third world countries.  They're getting proper food, health care and an education.  A few bucks a month over the course of their lives means opportunity for them and one day their children.  That's how you create positive change in impoverished nations.

Ha ha ha. This is funny, because for the longest time while first watching Game of Thrones, I could only see her as Sarah Conner.

Anyway, am I the only person who never heard of Ed Sheeran before he was in a quick scene that was just fine, that apparently ended the world for some reason?

The scene was kind of pointless. It seemed like it was an opportunity for Arya to realize that most of the people working for the various houses were just trying to get by. It would have been interesting if she had to kill them later or something. But, they touched on it and then never looked back.

The whole thing is weird.

"A charity appeal starring the British singer was meant to draw attention to the poverty crisis in Liberia. Instead, a watchdog group says, it succumbed to white savior syndrome."

I don't know about anyone else, but I'm getting more than fed up with the overuse of buzzwords these days. Especially when they're used by people who somehow think the mere use of these catch phrases somehow shuts down any argument against their opinion.

It's weird when actors are acting? That's why they are actors. Ed didn't act in the scene, he was placed there as a publicity stunt. I don't hate the guy, and didn't know it would be controversial at the time (I saw it first showing) and I was like WTF?

What totally ruined that scene for me was the fact that he was not beheaded during orgy with Orcs

Yes, but mansplaining is a direct result of white fragility and toxic masculinity. And I'm not positive, but I think I detect a bit of Able-body privilege in there.

Either way I'm pretty triggered, therefore I win the argument.

I have a lot of nostalgia for previous eras, when bad writers just spent 7 years writing an awful novel that that nobody read and either found another career or dissipated into oblivion.   Now this generation's awful writers write "think pieces" for the DailyWonkBlogFeedPost and disperse brain dribblings to millions of bored eyeballs looking for a distraction from work, with their Brooklyn lifestyle subsidized by mommy and daddy.

I think it's about context really.

Ed Sheeran in GOT can be odd - it'd be odd if it was Hillary Clinton too, even odd if it was Al Pacino.

They call it offensive but it's just putting a spotlight on the fundraisers.
