Pants full of macaroni!!: Is there any famous and/or powerful male person who ISN'T a slimebucket?

Literally?  Sure.

Statistically?  Probably very few.  VERY few.  Pretty much everywhere and everyWHEN, men who gain power use it to extort sex from women.  Hollywood, business, government, hell...even the military.  Every time a power structure exists, men will use that power structure to extort sex, all the way down to the fast-foot manager position.  That's pretty much standard operating procedure for our species: it's one of the few behaviors humans show that cuts universally across practically *every* cultural and religious line there is.

Short of simply decreeing (and somehow enforcing) something like "men can no longer hold positions of authority", it's not evergoing to stop.  And while enforcing, "men can no longer hold positions of authority" WOULD be the most efficient way to limit sexual harrassment, even afterwards, it'd be 60/40 odds in favor of women then continuing the trend as the oppressors.  As a rule, the people who are driven to seek power are the same people who are generally unscrupulous enough to use it to extort favors/sex/more power from other people.

We can and should slam individuals for doing it.  But thinking that we're suddenly going to change human nature (achieve power and exploit it) is foolhardly at best, and delusional at worst.  Keep slamming them as they pop up, but don't be surprised when they never stop popping up.

It's looking like the world is choc-a-bloc with pervs and assaulters because some tipping point was reached and every accusation that's sat ignored at the bottom of a desk drawer or buried in someone's head for the past 40 years is coming out. That's a big backlog to get through and it's all happening at once.

So are you saying that the current mix of heterosexual and homosexual misconduct being reported is an accurate representation?

I don't think it is, because look how long it took for women to start coming forward.

Now imagine that people that don't want others to know they are homosexual, or people that are straight and not homosexual at all, are some of the victims.

Entertainment industry types sat back and chuckled at the Catholic Church, and all the while they weren't any better.

I live in Eugene, Oregon and I work at the performing arts center here. Our most famous and productive resident company is the Oregon Bach Festival. We recently fired our recently (three years ago) hired young musical director because he purportedly made an racial joke at a fund raiser, then they came up with a series of "inappropriate behavior" instances that included some sexual innuendo stuff.
The racists joke was him talking to a friend of his using a southern accent; he's from England and his friend was African American, and that upset someone.
The real reason is his programming wasn't drawing crowds and they were looking for a way to cut him loose from his contract. Maybe the same case here?

I'm a pro classical musician. James Levine's pedophilia has been the worst kept secret in the history of mankind. I've known for 30 years, it's widely known. People have been paid off by The Met, they have always protected him. In fact my FB friends and I were speculating about this happening a week ago. Do a google search if you are interested, it's all out there. BTW good luck with the festival, I read about it and it does seem  unfair.

I keep hearing that, and if true, really doesn't reflect well on all "pro classical musicians."

Obviously I don't expect a rank and file musicians to go to the police based on rumors they hear, but plenty of soloists who appear at the MET could have gone to Volpe or Gelb and demanded that something be done or they would stop appearing at the house, especially in the last decade when Levine was conducting fewer and fewer operas due to health (if there was a time to strike, that was it). Singers like Domingo, Fleming, Kauffman, Voigt, Ramey, etc. who have nothing to lose at this point in their careers could have done something.

And if everyone knew, then why the hell did the musicians of the Boston Symphony Orchestra so enthusiastically welcome Levine as music director in 2004?

I don't see how Gelb survives this scandal - and he deserves to go - but he was probably the least complicit person.

We're way past that.

None of the allegations and tapes hurt Trump.

Roy Moore is going to win.

Nobody is talking about Al Franken even though more women have come forward.

So far the producers of Billionaire Boys Club have yet to announce if they'll cut Keven Spacey out of the movie or just shelve it (it seems obvious that they're waiting to see if they controversy dies down and they can just release it as is). Heck, I bet in 3 years Spacey starts to make a comeback.

I know a few professional singers who have performed at the Met (and Ravinia, among other places) and their reaction was the same as yours. The only surprise they expressed was the chickens had actually come home to roost.

Yep. He was in the wilderness for a few years, but he's appearing in big studio movies again, is directing again, and has a full state of upcoming movies in the pipeline. Hell, there is even talk of another Lethal Weapon movie.

Spacey will do nothing for a year or two, and then begin to pop up in obscure movies. Once he proves that he can behave himself on set he'll start getting bigger roles, and then it will be like none of this happened.

They absolutely do abuse power, albeit not in the same way. Put women in charge of everything but keep the  star-worshipping culture and you'll find people being abused and taken advantage of every bit as much, even sexually (though not to the extent it happens now, I think.) I used to have the misfortune of knowing a woman who's since become a prominent anti-rape advocate, and it's galling to see her parading about, talking about defending victims and how women will purify the system, remembering how she had no problem verbally abusing anyone who crossed her (children not excepted), risking children's lives driving drunk, getting young women's confidence and then throwing them away when they weren't useful to her any more, and lying and backstabbing anyone who got in her way as she climbed the ladder. But she never grabbed anyone's butt that I know of, so she's a hero. If she ever attains office (and I'm sure she's considering it) she will be a monster to anyone who works for her.

I've been lucky enough to see The Pittsburgh Symphony Orchestra, The Boston Pops (conducted by John Williams), and now the Cleveland Symphony Orchestra.

All three are world class in my opinion.
