It had nothing to do with his ethnicity.  The guy was a Cleveland Indians fan.  You can't trust those guys.

They suspended the employee, what about the manager that said the employee was "just doing his job" when they first complained?

Last night I watched CBC Docs which examined the life of a white supremacist who was deeply involved in "the movement" but eventually left. It was pretty shocking to see how prevalent white supremacy is in Canada and even more troubling that many of them feel emboldened by Trump.

Anyway, right after that ended, I watched the news and saw this.

So this week is starting off just great.

Indigenous is how people feel after they are harassed.

"This guy's just following me around G.T. every time I come here," Bigknife says in the video. "Every time I come here."
"Hey, there's more brown people in your store," he adds, apparently speaking to the employee. "You should start following them around too
."

So, the employee is ignoring other indigenous folks to focus on you every time. I don't think that's how racial profiling works. Call me crazy, but wouldn't the guy be focusing on other 'brown people' as well and occasionally ignore Br. Bigknife in favor of the 'scary brown person' of the day?

I was wondering about this as well.  I doubt that we'll ever hear the employee's side, but it wouldn't surprise me if it was something like, "I noticed that this guy keeps coming into the store, walking around for 20 minutes, then leaves without buying anything, every day" or something.

More likely though, the employee felt spurned by this guy once over something petty (like a bad parking job or something) and the employee decided to harass him.

Not willing to rule out racism as motiv, but if the guy is right and the same employee follows him every time he enters then something happened to flag him as a specific threat.

Maybe he ate a grape?

I'm not white. In fact, I'm actually Indian.

And I have had conversations about it. You're right, most don't care about the name. Still incredibly inaccurate to call them Indian, and they tend to agree.

The Canadian word for Indian is Indian but we only use it to describe people from India so as to not confuse. Indigenous is the broadly accepted shorthand for First Nations, Inuit, and Metis.

I'm generally an average looking white guy and every time I go into Hellmart I get shadowed by one of their loss prevention guys.  I probably wouldn't have noticed him the first time since it's not unusual to go down the same aisles as someone else....but it's unusual to see someone else 30 minutes later, still following, with nothing new added to their cart and absolutely no perishables in it.

It's one of the many reasons I avoid Hellmart.

The latter, thought it could be the former too. :) I guess I just dislike expensive devices made by a company where they take away features in order to sell accessories to an already $1000 smart phone.

Any actually useful comments to my thoughts (I could have just generalized iPhone, would that have satisfied you?) in my post, beyond your singular derision of my aversion to a particular Apple, Inc. product?
