Shostie: Is there a Die Hard Thanksgiving movie equivalent?

"Jack Colby is an Iraq War vet with PTSD. After a failed mission to capture a terrorist leader, he's dishonorably discharged and the only job he can get is security guard at the Mall of America. Forced to work on the busiest shopping day of the year, the terrorist leader he failed to capture takes the Mall hostage - but Jack thinks he's hallucinating from his PTSD. Can Jack overcome his trauma, defeat the bad guys,  and protect unchecked consumerism?

I'll bet you that if you showed that movie to Robert Downey, Jr., he would be completely shocked that he is in it.

It's not a Christmas movie... Just soulless internet folk consider it a Christmas movie because it's an action movie that takes place during Christmas.

I loath Planes, Trains and Automobiles.

It's incredibly formulaic and predictable. Also, it's not really a Thanksgiving movie - it's just an odd couple-type movie. Instead of the two mismatched characters living or working together, they're travel companions. Thanksgiving is just a plot device to give them a reason to both be traveling.

Oh, yeah, a movie about redemption, coming together, and involving a divine resurrection has nothing to do with Christmas. Just because Die Hard isn't as overtly religious as In Bruges doesn't mean it's not a Christmas movie.

It always bugged me whenever I watch PT&A without that scene. That scene was there the first time I'd seen this movie, so when it went missing in future re-watchings, I always felt like I'd somehow missed a part of the movie -- did I sleep through a part, did I get a defective copy, or what?

This was probably a scene for television only to fill time for content and not for the original cut. A few 80s movies did that, one of the Police Academy movies did.

Huh, I saw this in the theater and do not remember that scene at all. But, then again, it was 30 years and several dozen bottles of whiskey ago ...
