FTAMel's back, and we never have to re-examine or evaluate the shiatty things he said in the past ever again.

Well, no, Mel is allegedly actually one of the worst serial sexual harassers out there.  He's always been known to be absolutely toxic on the set, demeaning his co-workers far worse than what I've read about Brett Ratner.

I thought this was common knowledge.  If it isn't, then ask Helen Hunt and Rene Russo about him.

What Gibson wanted to say "If I am going to be treated like shiat for being a scumbag then I want all those other Hollywood scumbags treated like shiat as well".

Can't argue with the logic

Ok, Let's.  I couldn't find any quotes from Helen Hunt, but here's some from Rene Russo.

From the LA Times:

So you based most of your early choices on paychecks.
I mean, honestly, it was like, "How much does it pay?" I didn't always do that. I loved doing "Tin Cup." I loved working with Mel Gibson [in "Ransom" and two "Lethal Weapon" films]. That was great fun.
Do you keep in touch?
You know what? I owe him a call. I had a great time working with Mel. I have to say, he - out of all the actors that I've worked with - treated everyone equally.

And of course, Jodie Foster has always maintained that he's a good guy

Meanwhile, Alec Baldwin not only gets a pass from Hollywood on his homophobic remarks, his verbal abuse of his daughter and Kim Basinger, but they celebrate him continually.  Double standard much?

Rene Russo did three movies with him. That's not the typical behavior of actors who hate being around somebody.

I'm sure Rene Russo got plenty of offers in the 90s that didn't involve working with Mel Gibson and paid just as well.

All I can say is that I distinctly remember watching iabout the type of behavior Mel had on set in the 80s and 90s, and I remember that Mel was putting up dick pics in female co-stars dressing rooms, among a lot of other reprehensible behavior that was attributed to "boy's locker room" antics.

IIRC, it was an interview with Russo on Entertainment Tonight that she went into some of the details.

That was the first time I thought that Mel Gibson sounded like a real ass, and started to stay away from his movies.

Now that is from memory, and that may pre-date the world wide intertubez, but it is one of those things that has always stood out in my mind about Mel Gibson.

After reading the article quoting Renee Russo linked by FilmBELOH20, so much for common knowledge, eh?  Your bs is what builds my ignore list.

Happy to be on it although I'm not sure why my comments offend you so much that you're willing to overlook the facts that these comments aren't out of line with what we know for certain that Gibson did in terms of harassing his wife and his behavior during his arrest.

Just looking at her IMDb, in just the 4 years after Lethal Weapon 3, she had co-starring roles with Clint Eastwood, Dustin Hoffman, John Travolta, and Kevin Costner. She was also on a shortlist for the part that went to Nicole Kidman in Batman 3.

She wasn't short of high paying opportunities that didn't involve having to be around Mel Gibson if she didn't want to.

There's a zero percent chance of me watching a movie that has that POS Mel Gibson in it. He is a scumbag and he won't get my money. It's hard to determine what makes him the bigger scumbag, his abuse of women or the anti-Antisemitism.

Who decides "toxic"?  Allowing women to vote was considered "toxic" at one point in time.

He directed a film last year (and picked up quite a few awards for it).  Are you saying that NOW he will be barred from making a film?

I like Mel Gibson movies and will continue to watch them even though he's a deeply flawed human being who has done some terrible things.

Start your own studio then. Hollywood is run by big corporations.
Just like any other industry, as long as you bring more value to the corp than you do liability, you will get away with anything short of murder.
