Oh FFS -- so Amazon is bad now for allocating dedicated Storage Services to the US Intel Community
I guess I'm a nasty Government Collaborator for helping build an image recognition software allowing the FBI, CIA and NSA to do image and video searches. Nothing like FUD to stir up the angry idiots

Sigh... And Google/Microsoft/Amazon is stealing your personal medical data when they sign BAA contracts with medical institutions!

Or, you know, these agreements are put in place to sandbox certain types of data to mitigate breaches and place a contractual obligation for compliance.

Yeah, how come the US spy agencies don't handle their own feckin' information?
Something is wrong with this picture.

People non-ironically accuse IBM of supporting the Holocaust because they sold census machines to Germany.

If that's the basis for collaboration, you're actually even more culpable than they were.

No kidding.  What a load of shiat.

Hey, to everyone who's never held a clearance, "Secret" just means "shiat we don't want on the internet" and applies to the entire government.  The intel community doesn't use 'secret' for ANY cool shiat.

I keep wondering if it's time to move into Ted Kaczynski's shack in the woods. Minus the bomb making stuff of course.

I mean.... you totally are, though.

But really, Amazon itself is a bigger threat to the public than the NSA will ever be.

I don't fear "big government" as much as I fear the opposite: Government stepping to the side and allowing wealthy interests into places that they're too ravenous to be trusted with.

There is no cloud. Its just someone elses computer.

Our domestic and foreign intelligence agencies cant keep track of or keep secure their own data themselves. How much worse of a job can Amazon do? The only real problem will be when someone at Level3 farks up routes or DNS and takes down "the cloud" for hours again.

But at least with Prime I can get spied on in two days or less.

Huh.  Why not just not put "shiat we don't want on the internet" on the internet?

FWIW GovNet is air-gapped and isolated from the rest of AWS.

I hear the deployment pipelines are absolutely hellish to manage.

Yeah they've been there done that.

Dumb dumb dumb.

We'll be reading how dumb an idea this was in a few years and people will say "We had no idea this could happen."

Maybe we will have more Spy vs. Spy from this.

This is what happened and will continue to happen and nobody seems to notice.  Or maybe they are in denial.

Since it's AWS, presumably it will be hacked and used to launch crude email brute force attacks within a few minutes..
