Sat for the American anthem and stood for the Mexican anthem? He really should consider moving there and see if it is really better south of the border than in the United States.

Really the Spiffy tag?

Also, he should at least have sat for the Mexican anthem, too.

Makes sense. There's never been any racism in Mexico or questionable police tactics.

Is anyone still mad about this?

Typical reactionary response from an American "oh this guy should just move to Mexico if he thinks it's so great".

Just because he respects the Mexican anthem and decides to protest the existence of racism by sitting for the US anthem doesn't mean he thinks Mexico is better than the US or anything. It just means racism only exists in America and that will never change if football players stand for our anthem.

He's a goddamn hero if you ask me, earning all that money to cause and receive brain damage, but still socially woke. Make America more like Mexico, and it will be worth standing for the anthem to Marshawn Lynch, millionaire and student of geopolitics.

Why can't black people peacefully protest the way white people do... get together with some angry friends and elect an incompetent boorish ahole to burn down government?

Wow, you're gonna have a fit when you learn who armed those cartels.

But it's okay, cuz it was done to take care of bigger, scarier cartels.

I don't know if you've read the past 200 years of news or so, but being black in America hasn't exactly been a cake walk, either.

You couldn't even self-identify on the Mexican census as black(african descent) until 2015. Mexican police stop black Mexican citizens on the street and deport them to Haiti for being too black. Most Afro-Mexicans live in a single area without paved roads or running water.

It's on a slightly different level.

If this is now some kind of a litmus test I'd like to get on the record. I do not give a good god damn when any of you sit or stand. And I don't care what music is playing or if there is about to be a football game.

At this point, make it like it used to be. Don't even have players on the field for the anthem. Come out after. NFL just had to have that DoD money. Nothing like paying for patriotism.

I've been saying all along the protesters have are ineffectual in part because they have no idea what they're protesting. It's been about police brutality, racism, the second verse of the anthem and everything in between depending who you ask and when. Now this farking clown shoe goes and puts a giant exclamation mark on it by protesting our anthem while standing for one that has provably more of everything they've been biatching about.

As you've pointed out racism in Mexico is rampant. Mexican police brutality and corruption are legendary. Is he only concerned about racism and police brutality against black Americans? fark those brown people south of the border. He will ABSOLUTELY stand for their anthem which through his logic must stand for all of the abuse they've suffered.

I'm shocked to see how little support Lynch is getting on Fark of all places. What the hell does he have to do with the Mexican anthem? He probably knows nothing about social issues in Mexico nor should he. He is protesting racism in America. He doesn't know enough about Mexican issues to protest them. It's not like by standing for one anthem and kneeling for the other he's picking one country over another. The hole sitting/kneeling for the anthem is specifically targeted against inequality in America. Maybe Mexican players should sit for their anthem in their own country but something tells me Mexico probably doesn't try to force their athletes to stand for the anthem anyway.
