A half gallon of lactose free is around $2.40. I haven't bought whole milk in over 20 years, but I think a gallon of whole milk is around the price of a half gallon of lactose free.

In some markets Braums is running a promo 2 Gal (whole and 2%) for $4...

There recently there has been a milk glut so we made a bunch of Ice Cream as well.

That sounds good.  We will probably make some for Thanksgiving it if is not going to be cold - we have one of those White Mountain makers and it produces incredible ice cream.

2-2.50/gal for store brand
3-4/gal for other brands non organic
3.50-6/gal for regional dairy organic.
5-6/gal for other brands of organic.

$2.50 - $3.00 per gallon of whole milk.

We go through between 3 & 4 gallons a week. Thankfully my kids really only drink milk or water. Even chocolate milk is a stretch for my son and youngest daughter.

Bought milk twice last month.  Paid $3.50 for 1 gallon jug of 1% Market Pantry (Target) each time.

Gubbo: Milk comes in bags?

Milk supposedly lasts longer in bags, because it's not exposed to air. Canada and probably other countries have bagged milk like boxed in bag wine.

No farking clue.  I've been lactose intolerant for 30 years and never buy the stuff.

I have no idea. Don't know how much gasoline or much of anything costs. I just throw the shiat I need or want into a buggy or on the counter and hand over my debit card.

Here in New Zealand it's NZ$3.20 for 2 litres. Do the currency and metric conversion, our milk is about twice as expensive than it is in the States. Although we don't have farm subsitidies so we pay world prices for milk and other foodstuffs.

Yes, but the question asked is how much does that cost?

2017-11-10 02:05:10 PM
I only buy it on sale, lately $1.88/gal or .99/half. Think it's regularly 2.20-2.50/gal.

$1.79 for a gallon of skim, 1%, 2% or whole just south of the state line in Illinois

Shouldn't yours be less so close to the source?

$1.50 a gallon at our local Dollar General here in town. $3.75 at the Dollar General in the next town over. Same supplier.

WTF? It's like the next town over has some sort of "milk tax" - at the supermarket, they've always had double the prices for anything dairy.

Why is it in Canada milk is packaged in plastic bags?  (I'm sure they must have SOME reason for it,
but what it is escapes me.)

Li'l Robbie: Why is it in Canada milk is packaged in plastic bags?  (I'm sure they must have SOME reason for it,

The story I got from a friend in the far away kingdom of Canadia is that it's because of the metric system.

Back in the 60's, when it became mandatory to sell milk in metric measurements, it turned out to be a pretty costly undertaking refitting all the machines making plastic and glass bottles to accommodate the new sizes, while the machines that churned out bag containers needed next to no refits at all. So a lot of manufacturers switched over, and a custom was born.

Local Aldi here in central Indiana.  Been under a $1 for over a year.  Eggs are cheap as well at $0.34dz yesterday.  Also, I find that the local store prices of a lot of items at lower prices than in the ads.  Sometimes living in the worst housing market in the country has its perks.

You ever notice that 'dairy air' and 'derriere' both sound and smell the same?

Here in SE NM whole milk goes for about $3.25 a gallon.

Dates are always worse in the neighboring town, because everybody comes here to buy their milk, and leaves milk sitting on the shelves there.
