Blueberry pie

Da Wife is allergic to blueberries, so that pretty much makes me a nonbluberrytarian, too.

I make a lemon pound cake with wild blueberries, in a Bundt pan.

Instead of icing, I dust it with powdered sugar.

Is Veterans Day a big food holiday in some places?

Guess I'll just have a slice of the grey somber pie.

Veterans' Day isn't necessarily somber.  That's Memorial Day.

I knew it was going to be southern style banana pudding before I even hovered over the link.

I make that for potlucks all the time.  I love the stuff but the wife hates it.  I grew up eating it and it was fantastic.  Don't layer it like tiramasu, that's for yankees.  Completely line a bowl-shaped casserole dish with Nilla Wafers up to the level where the top of the pudding will be.  (Just eyeball it.  Use a dab of pudding to stick them.)  Then, stir the banana slices into the vanilla pudding after it cools, and pour into the dish.  (If you put the 'nanners in the pudding while it's hot, they'll turn brown.)  Cover the top with crumbled cookies.  Cover with cling wrap and refrigerate.

(Enjoy any remaining Nilla Wafers schmeared with creamy peanut butter.  Damn, that's a good combination.  Addictive.  Almond butter works, too, but my Grams would look at you funny.)

For potlucks, it's either banana pudding, or buffalo chicken dip.
Use Kraft Original Ranch and Mozza instead of blue cheese.  That goes on the side in chunks.  Serve with celery sticks and Frito's Scoops, also.  Bring your diuretics if you're hypertonic.

Mango float. Graham cracker crust, cream and sweetened condensed milk mixed together, and sliced ripe mangos, in layers. I could eat tons of this stuff!

A decent bottle of port or cognac.
