Ooh, chairman of the House Judiciary Committee?

I wonder if he's gonna go rogue and go after Trumpy for reals...

Seems like a lot of Republicans are retiring.  I wonder if they're the clean ones from this Russia business, although if that's true I also wish they'd farking DO something about it and act in the best interests of the nation rather than simply retire.

Very, very interesting that the Committee Chairs all seem to be jumping off of the Trumptanic.

Farking Clown Shoes: Ooh, chairman of the House Judiciary Committee?

That's not really his jurisdiction; that's more House Oversight's purview, or at least House Intel.

I will say, that on a personal level, I hate Dick Burr with the fire of a thousand suns, but he seems to be doing an even-handed job with this investigation at Senate Intel. If Congress does anything with the Russia investigation I think it'll come out of SSCI. I would hate to be Carter Page knowing what  he just testified to, and the grilling he's going to get when he faces the Senate. I'm stocked up on popcorn, ya'll this is just getting good.

house judiciary committee creates/approves articles of impeachment before it goes to the floor for a vote. This is a fairly significant development regarding a possible impeachment

So does this mean he's working towards building those articles of impeachment and doesn't want to have to run again after impeaching his own Party's President?  Or is he too chicken to do the right thing and would rather retire than continue farking America for his own personal gain?

the only "clean" one retiring is McCain. And he's retiring because he doesn't expect to live the entirety of his term

Corker has some legal issues that may be coming to a head, Flake was going to lose his primary, Goodlatte is probably in deep with the Russians.

hell, even Chaffetz was probably in with the Russians too, or at least got played with the whole Benghazi/email schtick

probably a combination of both. He knows impeachment is coming soon, before 2018, and he's too cowardly to stand up and say "look, you chucklef*cks. I'm sorry but you voted in a traitor for president. My bad for wanting to do what's right for the country."

You don't get past the county level in US politics if you are "clean".  They might not have conspired with foreign powers, but remember both all sides *are* bad, just not equally bad.

/at least, ones who can repeatedly win elections.  The stars had to align *just* right to get Carter elected and then we dumped him

I think he's basically saying, "I really don't like it around her any more, with all these crooks. It makes me feel tainted. So the obvious solution is to just quit, and then it will be somebody else's problem. 'Bye."

Then he'll go sit on his porch and log his Congressional pension checks, and nod knowingly -- and quietly -- with his likewise retired colleagues about how awful it all is.

As long as we're talking investigation, oversight, and other foreplay: pretty much.

Contrarwise, Consumation would be Goodlatte's department. If Robert Mueller's grand juries decide the president was a co-conspirator, then the traditional approach is a locked briefcase full of materials to support a Bill of Impeachment, delivered to the United States House Committee on the Judiciary. Similarly, if either oversight or intel decide the matter warrants it, they would pass it off to the Judiciary Committee to draft the articles.

Nohow, what seems the 6.4 teraton question is whether even if impending impeachment is the tipping point factor for Goodlatte's decision, did he decide that he doesn't want to face a primary challenge over allowing impeachment to proceed, or did he decide that he doesn't want to face his constituent electorate in the general over preventing it from proceeding?

Yep, another Republican coward runs for the hills when the moron finally figures out that he has been enabling traitors and is too gutless to do anything about it.
