It infuriates me that Moore knows his views won't stand up to rational examination, but he also knows his poll numbers are strong enough that he doesn't have to take the risk of facing Jones.  Thanks for nothing, dumbass, bible-thumping Alabama voters.

I'm soothed by the knowledge that he will be a joke and a pariah in the senate. He will never have any kind of leadership position, never be able to push his theocratic whacky agenda, never make any kind of impact.

He's over 70, so he will serve a term or two and die quietly and be quickly forgotten.

Well, he is a Republican after all.  Charlatans and cowards, all of them.  It didn't used to be like this but the voters don't seem to care.

This is where you decide to hold the debate anyway and allow Doug Jones to answer his questions. Questions and responses should still be directed at the podium where Moore is supposed to be.

"Mr. Moore, what would you do to improve the lives of citizens living in Alabama?"
"We would like again inform our audience that Mr. Moore chose, out of fear and an inability to defend his platform, to not attend the debate"

This.  Don't quietly just allow no debate to happen and no one to notice.  Point it out publicly.

I sent an email to the news station suggesting it. There's no reason to not hold the debate. Just make sure anyone watching knows that Moore was too chickenshiat to attend.

We had that happen in a local Congressional race a few years back. The Republican challenger, Lee Anderson, refused to debate the Democratic incumbent, John Barrow, until Barrow would publicly say he supported Nancy Pelosi as Speaker.

Barrow never did, and there was no debate - in fact, Barrow made a great ad spot out of it (starts about 59 seconds in):

I plan on doing just that. Judge Roy more.  FIFY.

When they unpack his finances for the jury, it will happen. When the jury foreman sends a note to a judge asking whether the crime could be made a capital crime with execution, you know the outcome.

STIGGINIT requires no debate.

From my previous link:

Roy Moore instead asked to meet Strange in a public debate, "mano a mano, no tricks, no moderators, no questions from the press. Just Luther Strange and me on the stage presenting our issues and the opponents' responses thereto."
Okay, Channel 19 and Jones should offer to do just that (substituting Doug Jones for Luther Strange, of course).

There's a topical news quiz show in the UK called Have I Got News For You. It's very well known, you've probably seen it.

There's two team,s each with a permamant team captain, and then each week there would be a guest on each team. The guests were often politicans and they did catch quite a lot of heat on occasion.

One week, Roy Hattersley, a very unpopular (and overweight) politician failed to show up last minute, and in his place they put an actual tub of lard, and then addressed questions to it all night.

lulz

Have you met the GOP Senators?  McConnell's response to Trump saying Nazis were his greatest friends was to get down and teabag Hair Fuhrer, while adding that white-hooded Nazis were even better.  Moore's going to have to work not to be Majority Leader by Easter.

We asked Roy Moore's campaign to explain why they declined our invitation to debate.  Campaign chair Bill Armistead sent us this statement in response:

"Judge Roy Moore good. Doug Jones bad. Judge Roy Moore good. Doug Jones bad. Judge Roy Moore good. Doug Jones bad. Judge Roy Moore good. Doug Jones bad. Judge Roy Moore good. Doug Jones bad. They did eventually have one, though. It was an unmoderated cluster, and Roy kept mispronouncing words and tripping over his own tongue, but they debated. Strange just had no charisma.

Doug's been in 30+ movies and TV shows. Top left is the "Angel of Death" from Hellboy 2. Bottom row 2nd from right is the Silver Surfer, next to it is Doug's first real pro gig - the "Mac Tonight" commercial for McDonalds. I was at Ball State the same time as Doug - he's amazingly talented...and a nice guy to boot.

In fairness, Moore is just protecting his brand against Roy Moore actually speaking and being held accountable for his own statements. It's totally understandable...
