I never got the "Career Suicide Squad" label.  It made $750M in the theater, the director has a solid career that's not slowing down.  Will Smith, Margot Robbie, Viola Davis, etc don't seem to be falling off a cliff.

Sure it was a wreck of a plot, stitched together from the remnants of a collapsed Hot Topic and doused in the liquid from a thousand broken lava lamps, but it didn't end any career prospects.  Just seemed like a payday for most of them.

I did like the characters, and wish they'd been in a better story.

I'll watch it and like it.

I tolerated it due to Margot Robie's hotness but that douche being added to the characters will cause me to pass. If they find a way to add Alexandra Daddario maybe I'll watch because I managed to overlook how horrible he was in San Andreas because boobs.

If Dwayne can save Suicide Squad/DC like he did for Fast & Furious he gets a lifetime pass for making shiatty movies like Baywatch

People don't take into account that Hollywood doesn't make movies for American audiences anymore.
They are made for Chinese and Indian audiences, that's where the real money is.

If they'd just done an Enchantress movie with an actress rather than a model, I'd have preferred that to the turd they decided to set the DC film franchise ten years back with in an attempt to say, "Look, we can make ensemble action movies, too!"

/Look forward to see if they make a Lobo movie as a shiatty, 4th-Wall-breaking Deadpool-lite, too.

It's something cute for people with little imagination. Even if it tanked, it's only "career suicide" if it killed the careers of the majority of people in it. Really, it was just forgettable, but the performances weren't so bad that the actors won't get roles in the future.

Gyro the Greek Sandwich Pirate: I just don't get the hate for Suicide Squad.  You'd think people expected the next Citizen Kane.

I din't care about a single character in the movie, shy of wanting Harley Quinn to do naughty things to me until the end of time. Nothing. Not during the movie, not after the movie. Not a single character did anything to make you care about them. It's a shiatty movie that they tried to make into Deadpool after the fact, thinking that inserting jokes could make up for bad writing and directing. It doesn't have to win an Oscar, but you need to at least be able to invest yourself in the movie for the 2 hours that it is on the screen. They could have nuked everyone and it would have had the same reaction as the expected, cliche ending did.

His mega star appeal is because he's friendly, engaging, good looking, and self deprecating. The man is willing to laugh at himself, and to play silly roles. He doesn't take himself ofr his celebrity status too seriously, and people like him because of it. He also seems to be good at marketing, or at least hiring people who are good at it.

Besides, he makes videos like this for movie roles he does:

I'll buy that. I still don't feel like things are elevated with him in it, but that just means I'm not a fan. I wish him all the success (and he certainly doesn't need my wish), just not my thing.

But Margo Robbie.... yum

Hey, at least it wasn't as shiatty of an edit job as "B vs. S", a movie with scenes that made absolutely no sense to most people, not even the fans. The extended edit helped, but not by much. Assfleck was trying waaay too hard. The Dream sequences will only make sense after Justice League, and that's insane.

No matter which cut of the movie I watch, the whole deal with having 30 second characters show up only to disappear or get killed made no sense. Jared Leto gave an ... interesting take... on the Joker to be sure, but was that really what we needed? I don't know, it's growing on me but still seems to lack the congenial psychosis of Jack Nicholson. I actually liked the technicolor lava lamp look, it was refreshing. This whole "dark and broody grey wash" crap they have had going on since "Man of Steel" is bullshiat.

Margot Robbie... good gods y'all, I would watch that woman read a phone book.

I think that my biggest complaint about "Suicide Squad" was some really bizarre story flow. They needed a Marvel editor in there to unscrew that garbled mess. Otherwise it was a fun film.

Because it was one step above "Ass: The Movie". As adorable as watching the mentally ill try to push a square peg through a round hole for two hours.

Paul Blart and Paul Blart 2: The Reblartening made just under $300 Million. Throwing around the numbers means nothing when most people will happily chug down garbage.

Except they made half the ticket sales in the U.S. and Canada, and international ticket sales return far less money to the movie makers as a percentage.  So if their goal is to make the "real" money in India and China, they failed miserably here, and do on most movies.

Cara Delevingne was terrible, the movie itself was kinda meh.  They could have done a live action shot-for-shot remake of Assault on Arkham and improved the movie 3000%.  The fact that the big bads were Omega level powered and all of a sudden couldn't waste some c-listers due to incredible plot armour was a bit beyond belief.

And yet, it actually did win an Oscar.  So Suicide Squad has as many Oscars as Martin Scorsese.  Oscars are pretty useless.  Unless you're the rumored actress that used it as a dildo.

Its like 2 differerent movies, rolled into one.  Some parts are really well done, and some parts suck.
I honestly suspect that the parts that suck were the re-shoots.

And regardless what you think of the Rock... He's earned the benefit of the doubt to not put the word FAIL next to him name.   He's single-handedly saved like 5 franchises.

It's *really* bad. Ganj will NOT help. According to Suicide Squad Batman attacks villains in front of their kids. Surely that won't damage the kid will it Bats?? Gimme a farking break. That's just the tip of the shiatberg. I don't understand the love affair with this Harley Quinn. She was nails on chalkboard annoying.

"We're the suicide squad. The team they didn't expect to survive."

Except, no, Viola was actually counting on your success.

Or my other favorite: "We can't destroy the heart! It'll kill her!"

Except, no, it won't.

I wasn't hoping for Citizen Kane, but I was hoping it would be a little more believable than Weekend at Bernies.
