The kid should have picked Mozart. The Make-A-Wish foundation is very powerful.

Blake Shelton?  Well, bonus points to the kid for not being greedy, I guess.

Next week, a girl who wants to meet Frank Stallone, a grandmother whose last wish is to get an autograph from Roger Clinton, and a visit to a local Children's Hospital from Beyonce('s backup dancer).

Are we sure it wasn't Blake Shelton music that caused the cancer?

/glad the kid is doing better

Was in a coma and had to listen to Blake Shelton. Are we sure he doesn't want to meet him to kick him in the balls?

At least it wasn't Nickleback.

Did he wake from the coma to tell them to turn it off?

Sorry about your cancer, kid with shiatty taste in music.

I'd like to meet Gwen's abs, if you catch my drift.

And I think ya do.

Agreed. I think one can enjoy a particular song or artist while undergoing treatment. But we're going to need lab results to determine whether or not the specific music 'helped'. I bet if you cloned the kid and played music he hated while getting the same treatments his outcome would have been similar.

That's actually a really good idea! Cause, I mean, if I was forced to listen to that music, I would get over cancer as soon as possible just to make it stop.

I wonder if the same thing works with REO Speedwagon and kidney stones...

The boy made a full recovery. The article's author, however, remains commatose.

/local news, man...

I'm glad the kid improved and is better, but no, Shelton's music was not part of his recovery, just like the other article a couple of weeks back about the British guy hearing his soccer team cheer that "woke" him from a coma.

Induced comas are facilitated by using benzodiazepines (midazolam, etc) and propofol (among others). The beneficial side effects of these drugs besides sedation, as that there is an amnesic effect that occurs as well.

These same drugs are used during your colonoscopy or getting your wrist manipulated and casted. You wouldn't want to remember the screams you made would you? Or hear the laughter of staff while your small dick is having a cystoscopy or noticing your bleached a-hole. Not pleasant.

So while we like to hear these wonderful stories of coma events, they simply do not happen. The most likely scenario is that when the kid awoke, his mom said "we played Blake Shelton music while you were sleeping, and I'm sure that helped you didn't it!".

If Blake Shelton was playing while I was in a coma, I'd wake up just to say "TURN THAT FARKING SHIAT OFF!!!

But good for the kid that's awake now, that's the important part of the story.

Maybe the kid was too shy to ask for Gwen Stefani?

Sounds like something my friends would do if I were in a coma: "This oughta piss her off enough to do the trick. Just make sure you're out of her reach when she comes to."

He brought back the sunshine.

If I was to ever be in a coma, my girlfriend would probably play Slayer.

Sounds legit.  Blake Shelton music is anathema to most cellular life.  Cancer cells heard that, went all nope and took off.
