(Deadspin)   As part of Roy Halladay tribute, NBC Philadelphia inexplicably shows B-roll video of him getting lit up like Charlie Brown. Even Santa didn't get this treatment   ( divider line

To be fair, the montage was probably put together by someone that has never seen a baseball game.  They just heard that home runs were exciting.

To be fair, Roy would probably have laughed.  As long as the tape showed the last pitches of his perfecto and the no hitter in the playoffs, everything's good.

I saw him pitch this game (xes/TOR/TOR200608260.shtml ) live. Doc let up 2 HR early to the Royals, who were crappy at the time. Some guy named Runelvys managed to outpitch Roy for his only career complete game shutout. Roy pitched a complete game loss, too. The Jays weren't too good then, either. It was a bit of a down year for Doc, too.. no shutouts that entire season.

At least the tribute on Sportsnet last night was well done. I want Stephen Brunt to do my eulogy.

In their defense, it's Philly...

Really how hard is it?

The final outs of his no hitter and perfect game. Some clips of hitters striking out and grounding out. Him receiving his Cy Youngs. For some slightly humorous part, show him just ignoring everyone else on the team during his outings. Done.

My guess is that an editor did a "Halladay montage" query in their archive, restored the first result, and never watched it.

I haven't seen pitching like that since Joe Montana!
