Again, don't ever take Ric Flair's numbers or his memory to heart. There's a reason he had to shill lotto tickets.

His first wife and Shawn Michaels directly said that he was a compulsive liar in the 30 for 30. That said, "what else are you going to do for fun in Hutchison, KS?" means his number is probably pretty damn high.

The most impressive stuff in the film was undeniable stuff that had nothing to do with him boasting about anything.... it was his work ethic and talent that made him so great.

He wrestled 6 to 7 days a week for 30 years.  He could never be alone and needed to be with someone like they said in the doc.  There are allot of stories that some of those nights he would have 2-6somes.  The math just might check out to get to 10,000.

woooooo

Yeah. The reverence that other wrestlers have for him spoke volumes, too. He had a Jordan-esque drive to work harder than anyone else. I liked that it showed both sides of that, too.

Not one bit.  I also find it amusing how everybody craps all over hogan for everything he's done in his personal life yet so far in here there's not one person who's gonna call out Flair for how much of an arsehole he was in regards to his family.  He ditched all his kids and wives for his gimmick life and it had an effect on EVERY one of them, yes Charlotte too

I don't know why "FAMOUS GUY IS A SHIATTY PARENT" isn't shocking people, either.

In the thread last night I said it felt like I was watching a documentary on a rock 'n' roll legend.  Constantly on the road, never at a lack for company, doing nothing small and seems he preferred his work to being home with the family.  He has the signs of an addictive personality.   Combine that with the high performers get from crowd reaction and you likely see issues.

CSB

My buddy was at a popular bar in Atlanta during the 80s. He was seated near the end of the bar, when none other than the Nature Boy arrives, and posts up next to him, orders a drink, and props his elbows on the bar facing outward to the tables. Buddy is a wrestling fan, so introduces himself, and said Flair was a pleasant guy, throwing back cocktails at a heroic pace.

The best part however, was every couple of minutes, people would walk up and ask "are you Ric Flair?" And if the inquiry was from a female, Flair's standard response was "yeah...do you wanna feel my cock?" Most of the females would scamper away embarrassed, but a couple of them took him up on his offer. Upon an over the pants inspection, Flair would nod his head affirmatively and say "that's pretty nice, isn't it?"

So my friends, if your going to bang 10K women in your lifetime, that is how you cut to the chase to get about the business of farking.

/WOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO!!!!!

It's what I was implying with the both sides of the Jordan drive comment. Eric's story near the end was tragic. That and watching every other wrestler that was interviewed- Michaels, Sting, HHH, Calaway, etc.- drop the personas and speak very frankly about a guy who could never drop his made you see the price he ultimately paid for living as a shell for so long.

His family.  Anybody he's ever done business with.  Fellow drivers.  Pretty much everybody except Sting.

I was struck by how brutally straightforward HHH came across as. He's the one who called Flair a liar and made no bones about how much Flair lied about his kid's drug tests.

One of the best sports docs ever. Brutally honest when it needed to be, held nothing back, and was engrossing the entire time.
Plus, they could have tripled the run time and still not covered all the crazy (good and bad) sh*t he's done with his life.

It could have been 1/2 the length and still made all of the points:

Childhood
ASU/Verne Gagne wrestling school
Plane crash/rehab
Wooooooooo
Affect on family
Admiration of peers
The end

Yeah, but you could say that about any documentary. Technically there's no reason for any doc to be over 30 minutes. But, you know, that's an actual story to be told, and not just details.

Michaels comment on Ric having no idea who Richard Fliehr was or is was so tragic. Here's a man who has played a character for so long he's lost in the character to the detriment of everyone and everything around him.

It was a great job by the documentary to position Michaels comment right after HHH's comment about him being a liar. He has lied to himself, the public, and more importantly his family, for decades.

It was sad to see. And I agree with others, Hulk may have his demons out of the ring and even in it with Vince, but he seems way more put together and can easily separate the persona of hulk hogan to Terry Bollea, who still exists.
