Renner said, "We have the film back, and so [Weinstein] can go and kiss my ass."

I think he'd probably rather jerk off into a flowerpot, but that works, too.

I think Elizabeth Olsen is real purdy. And she's a pretty good actress. And she seems like a really nice person, too.

I hope having the Anorexia Twins fronting for her saved her from having to watch Harvey Weinstein spooge on a ficus.

Good on them. Wind River was a great movie, and I'd hate to see its award chances damaged because they trusted the wrong distributor.

That said, this is a prelude to the liquidation of the Weinstein company. There's blood in the water, and Lionsgate, Amazon, and Netflix are circling. They're going to buy up as many upcoming Weinstein movies as possible for next to nothing. 2 years from now, the Weinstein Company won't exist. Hell, along with his current legal worries, Harvey may end up getting sued by his brother.

I doubt it will last a year.  Their assets aren't getting any younger.

Does Renner really think that Native Americans didn't rape each other until whitey showed up?

How does one arrive at that take-away after reading this article?

By being an idiot.  This is what it actually says:

the indigenous woman who, as Renner said, "have had to deal with atrocities since we got here."

My general point holds up (life for women in Native American cultures sucked pretty bad), but he refers to "atrocities", which presumably specifically refers to acts committed by whites against Natives.

Many, many native American societies were matrilineal / matriarchal.  Europeans put an end to all that.

The movie is about rapes on Indian reservations. Who's bright idea were the reservations?

/csb time

Weinstein would fly his production office from NY to LA on the private jet and berate each one of his trapped employees on the flight over.

When Scream was being filmed, he would call the LA-based director at 7am NY after watching the daily footage and scream over the phone, every morning.  So 4am Pacific time receiving these calls.

A client of mine lasted 3 weeks working for him as a VP.  My client was even located in LA away from this bastard in NY and still couldn't deal with the mishegoss.

Another client of mine told the story of her friend, she was with him in Cannes alone in an elevator.  He was wearing one blue shoe and black shoe.  Out of courtesy she pointed it out to him.  He spat on her shoes and walked out of the elevator.

This is true.

Wind River is a must own for me. Solid movie.

Questions.  If HW  was a producer on this film and it won best picture he would get an Oscar, correct?

If the movie is already complete and HW had a contract to get x amount based on the gross, how can that legally be changed?

mjbok: Questions. If HW was a producer on this film and it won best picture he would get an Oscar, correct?

No, he would not. Wind River was already made and was being screened at festivals when the Weinstein Company acquired it. The producers actually involved in making the movie are Peter Berg's company and a production company formed by 2 tribes that Sheridan was involved with in the early stages. Bob and Harvey Weinstein's name appeared as executive producers, but there role was strictly as a distributor. It's the same reason Harvey's name was not listed on the Best Picture nomination for Pulp Fiction.

Best guess, the contract for a piece of the gross was with the Weinstein Company, not Harvey Weinstein himself, who was fired from TWC.
And as the current deal stands, any money TWC makes from Wind River will now be donated to a nonprofit aimed at helping battered and sexually abused Native American women, which is a cause close to the director and the tribes who produced the movie.

I think the bigger thing is what this means to the Weinstein Company's future. Taylor Sheridan has gotten some critical love for his scripts, but he is still very far from being considered a power player. FFS, he spent up until a few years ago playing Red Herring Suspect #3 on CSI and the dopey sheriff's deputy on Sons of Anarchy.

If a relative novice like him can pull this kind of power play on The Weinstein company, the real movers and shakers are going to pick the carcass clean.

Harvey's going to jail.  Matter of when, and for how long.
