As a Texans fan I have no problem with this, and the sooner the better....

I kind of hope he flat out sucks so this issue can be laid to rest.

Doesnt matter much anymore.  The networks have stopped airing the National Anthem.  You can still hear it on the local radio broadcast tho, while commercials are playing on TV. (isnt that more disrespectful than kneeling???)

Who cares-- I guarantee every single person watching at home complaining about people not standing for the anthem were ass-deep in a couch cushion groove while levying that criticism.

Why?

I like Kaepernick. I think he got a raw deal playing on an absolute garbage fire in SF and that he'd succeed elsewhere.

But the Texans are 3-5. They aren't good. At best, Kaepernick carries them to a 9-7 record and a wild card. More likely, they go 6-10 or 7-9, if not worse than that.

Why not commit to tanking?

Because they have shiatty draft picks and McNair has been unfairly labeled as a racist.

oh my god.  can you imagine the clutched pearls and fainting couches and protests and allllll the hullabaloo if Kaep were to go to the playoffs?  oh how i would love to see that.  it would suck for him - you know some morans would.....you know.  threaten his safety, to put it kindly, but....oh the hilarity.

So prove he's racist. Stupid (non-racist) comment aside, what has Bob McNair done that you consider racist?

Houston Texans coach Bill O'Brien says he and general manager Rick Smith have discussed signing Colin Kaepernick

O'Brien: You're not thinking about Kaepernick are you?
Smith: Holy fark no, the boss would have my ass.
O'Brien: Right, that's what I thought too.

I don't care about Bob McNair. Every. Single. Conversation about race turns into "Is this white person racist? Can you prove without a doubt that he's racist?" It's a stupid rabbit hole to go down. The issue, when it comes to race, is largely one of the conditions under which black people in America live. But every single conversation gets focused on some white person who said or did something they shouldn't have.

I've got one piece of evidence. He called the players inmates.

/Seriously, this is like "you prove that I shiat on lawns if you ignore the time you caught me shiatting on a lawn."

You did the Jennifer Lawrence gif. thing which implied you think he's racist. That evidence up there is pretty weak. Not sure how that's racist. Listened to a Bernard Pollard interview a few days ago and he vehemently disagrees with you.

devilskware: Also are you really from South Dakota?

Not originally, but I do live here, yes.

And good for Bernard Pollard. It'd be nice if McNair weren't racist. But him having a black friend doesn't mean much, and like I said, "is McNair racist?" isn't the important conversation to have.

2017-11-06 05:05:57 PM
I figure that this is "insurance" that McNair is doing.

Basically, he falls on the sword for his comments, signs CK to 1) get him to drop the lawsuit and 2) placate his players somewhat. That way he can at least partially save face and it's not like the Texans are going to make the playoffs anytime soon and the Browns have their 1st and 2nd round picks, so they've got nothing to play for other than pride, as I think TEN and JAX probably have the 1st and 2nd place spots locked up in the AFC South anyway.

It might be better to tank and get a better draft pick. The Texans aren't making the super bowl either way, so the higher the draft pick the better it works out for you guys next year (in my opinion)

Am I the only one who just thinks he screwed up the old expression about inmates running the asylum? Amazing how one bad comment these days automatically makes you worse than Hitler.

The problem is, Colon is a crappy quarterback and not terribly bright to boot. He can't read defenses, doesn't read his own receivers, can't throw touch passes, and is a one-trick look/run pony.

Yes, he's silly fast and strong as an ox, but if two years in an offense simplified just for you makes you get WORSE, you're not gonna pick up the fairly complex Houston offense in a few weeks and win jack or shiat.

He's his own worst enemy, and his girlfriend's big yap isn't helping

Because at this point the competition is for fourth worst, and the Broncos are picking up steam in that department. No way will they beat out Cleveland, San Fran AND the Giants to get a top 3.

Because they don't have a draft pick anymore.  They gave up their first and second rounders to get Watson.  Tanking just helps the Browns.

Because the NFL is wide open this year. We are seeing parity like we haven't seen for a long time. This could be the year that a Houston Texans, and they're 9-7 record go to the Superbowl and win it. Who knows, stranger things have happened.

Michael Vick or Johnny Manziel?
Kaepernick never did time only got blackballed for using his celebrity entertainment job to silently protest against the systematic social injustice of police violence, intimidation, and harassment of minority communities for decades.  They should start singing the national anthem from now on when a cops tells them to freeze and get on their knees, after stopping and getting on their knees of course, don't want get shot even if the only probable cause is their skin color.  Peace and domestic tranquility can't happen until the Government and their standing army of boys in blue end the constitutional violation that is drug prohibition.  You know it is a violation because it has lead to the rise of tyranny by kingpins who are just like King George and his Tea company.  They will silence whistle blowers and prominent leaders that speak freely or against them.  They try to disarm the public from being able to defend themselves, while arming themselves to the teeth against threats they also help to create and arm.  But those manufactured threats are really used as pawns for them to create a government with unlimited power and utterly ignore the rights necessary to have freedom and justice for all people with a simple label of terrorist.  Authorities now give you warnings as to what little rights you still have. You have the right to remain silent and refuse to answer questions.  Anything you say may be used against you in a court of law.  You have the right to consult an attorney before speaking to the police and to have an attorney present during questioning now or in the future.  If you cant afford one that will defend you they will appoint one you can talk to but his goal is to move things along quicker for the court system paying for his services.  So next time you stand for the flag and anthem remember that the government will use terror to sacrifice our rights for power it should never have over the people.
