FTFA: Before killing himself, Paddock, 64, had set up cameras inside and outside his hotel suite, and in the peep hole.

I somehow read that as "pee hole" and my first thought was, wow, that's some dedication.

Explosives and more firearms and ammo in the car. This amazingly could have been so much worse.

Left a note but not a suicide note? Manifesto? Threat?

He had an adjoining room and was next to a stairwell. How easily could he have slipped out in the ensuing panic and evacuation?

"It never occurred to me in any way whatsoever that he was planning violence against anyone," Danley said in the statement.

He hid all those guns and ammo and explosives from his girlfriend all that time? I find that a little difficult to believe.

....oh, when you're 64, you don't get to have a "girlfriend". I can't think of a better word but "girlfriend" isn't it.

My late great uncle Buddy had a girlfriend named Angela up until his death at the age of eighty-three. He was just that kind of guy.

"There was also a note in his hotel room, but it was not a suicide note, he said, without providing details on what it said."

Oh you tease, CNN. How shall I ever get on with my day without knowing what this psychotic killer left behind as his final thoughts on his views of the world? Think I'll have tuna salad for lunch, kthxbye.

Investigators said something may have happened to Paddock between October last year and September this year that compelled him to purchase more weapons and ultimately lead to the massacre. Paddock bought 33 firearms, mostly rifles, during that 11-month period, authorities said.

I think they should have all the pundits go on and state their positions on whether anyone who is vaguely on "his side" of whatever the letter says before they reveal the contents.  The hedging and/or reversals would be incredible.

I mean, apart from the NRA making sure all his gear was readily available, nothing stands out as being something one man could not do.

officials haven't determined when the money transfer took place or who was the recipient. The FBI is working with Philippine authorities to get more details.

"It's troublesome this individual was able to move this amount of gear into a hotel room unassisted,"

Why is that troublesome? Do you think there's somebody at hotels going "hmm that guy has a lot of luggage, better call the cops." In my experience he could have had the bellhop carry twenty suitcases up and nobody would have batted an eye. I've seen sales guys traveling with samples with enough suitcases to fill a van.

My feel on him is that he would get super into new hobbies, buy all the expensive gear and toys that go with that hobby, and then forget about all of it and move onto the next thing a few months later.  Suddenly being into guns, and buying lots of guns may have just been this years weird hobby for her rich eccentric boyfriend.  Other years it would have been getting into airplanes, obsessing over movie memorabilia, ext.  Some guys, with lots of money and little impulse control, just pick up a new hobby, run with it, until it gets boring, and then lose interest.  Shooting guns at the shooting range probably just go boring, and it was either go on a murder rampage, or become a high end art thief.  He chose poorly.

I'm glad I'm not alone. TV and movie casinos have camera everywhere but inside the client's rooms, if it's the same in real life then it should be easy to see if he had help moving the weapons to his room.

Buying 33 rifles put you on some kind of watch list?  Of course not, but if it had, the police might also wonder why the guy was booking hotel rooms all over the country that overlooked music festivals.
