From TFA: Speaking to the prize committee by phone Wednesday morning, Frank said he had thought the chance of him winning the prestigious honor was "minuscule."

You gotta love a funny science person.

Prof. Dubochet was an important collaborator and mentor of mine.  The hallways of his old lab were decorated with the covers of Science and Nature, which displayed microscopy images his group took over the years.  One of his long term staff scientists, Marc Adrian, sadly passed away four years ago and was unable to see so much of the work he performed lead to a Nobel prize.
Well deserved award in my opinion.
