Way to distract from the fact that your administration didn't do anything to reauthorize CHIP, and that millions of children will lose healthcare. Fark you, you disingenuous asshole. I hope that you rot.

At the end of all this.

Donald and his clan and hangers on will all walk away from this, never serving any jail time, never even being held in custody... they will never pay a fine bigger then what could be found in their couch. There will be no consequences that that his money and now power will not protect him from.

Yes, I am aware of the repugnant "prosperity gospel" mindset to which the Republicans adhere - obviously those children are terrible people; God made them poor to punish them for their awfulness.  If they would simply start being better people, God would make them rich and they wouldn't starve.

It's a carefully constructed narrative designed to keep the wealthy and powerful wealthy and powerful.

I feel political cartoon coming on...

Columbus' ships touch the shoreline for the first time on the new world.  A dinghy rows out to shore carrying a ragtag bunch of sea-worn sailors.  A tribe of Natives waits to greet the landing party at the shore.  Every man on the boat bears a comical visage of Donald Trump.

Just in time for Columbus Day.

No offense to Columbus, I understand that the horrors of the  European Conquest of America was not his fault.

The thing is, though, that CHIP was a bipartisan law, and, as a healthcare law unrelated to the ACA, would almost certainly have passed given the opportunity. But the GOP was too busy trying to ram their latest shiatty attempt to repeal Obamacare through the Senate, and didn't leave themselves any time to renew CHIP.

There's a distinct odor...pretty much smells like sugar smacks.  I figured by mixing the two, one would end up with a sickening sweet asparagus smell.

I could also be sure to be slightly dehydrated to give it the golden hue he's so fond of in life...

How much time does it take?

"I motion to renew CHIP funding."
"Seconded."
"All those in favor?"
"Aye!"
"Motion passes."

I know I'm oversimplifying, but you have time for what you make time for. If they had any actual desire to extend CHIP funding, time would not be an impediment.

Oh boy. People mistaking "society" and "government" again. I have a great 1850s quote for just these occasions:

Socialism, like the ancient ideas from which it springs, confuses the distinction between government and society. As a result of this, every time we object to a thing being done by government, the socialists conclude that we object to its being done at all. We disapprove of state education. Then the socialists say that we are opposed to any education. We object to a state religion. Then the socialists say that we want no religion at all. We object to a state-enforced equality. Then they say that we are against equality. And so on, and so on. It is as if the socialists were to accuse us of not wanting persons to eat because we do not want the state to raise grain.

Well, you know what they say; "necessity is the mother of all invention." Maybe this will encourage lawmakers to come up with a better solution. Speaking of, Shouldn't these children be covered under Obamacare these days anyways? Seems rather wasteful to have so many government programmes doing essentially the same thing, but I'm a single-payer type so what do I know.
