OK, I feel better now. I didn't think he was so committed to the National Anthem that he'd carry on like he did. It just didn't make sense.

Good to know that there's a simple, petty, selfish, vindictive reason behind it, as usual.

Wow.  I never knew that he tried to get the whole league to pay for Flutie's contract.

But I do remember Flutie throwing 3 interceptions in his USFL debut.

And the only way this will end is if he apologizes for his comments on Friday night and his Tweets.  Something we know he is incapable of doing.

It would be a team of nothing but short white dudes.  They would always be in last place every season yet he would claim they won the Super Bowl or the entire league was rigged and every other team they play cheated.  There would be three times as many cheerleaders and they would have to endure at least a p***y-grabbing to make the squad.  The pre-game tailgating would have the parking lot looking like the square in front of Biff Tannen's Pleasure Paradise.  He would regularly lock fans out of the stadium for one reason or another forcing the team to play with no crowd in the stands.  And he would eventually pull the team from the NFL and make his own league....with blackjack and hookers.

He convinced other USFL owners to challenge the NFL directly in the fall, and then led the charge on an anti-trust lawsuit against the football giant that netted a massive...three dollars.

stan unusual posted a pic in the Jerry Jones thread and I was wondering what it was all about. Now I know.

nekom: Nothing is too petty for this man.  Absolutely nothing.

The fact that he continues to send press clippings to the guy who originally called him a "short fingered vulgarian" nearly three decades ago supports your theory.

FTA:  "Like so many bullies, Trump has skin of gossamer. He thinks nothing of saying the most hurtful thing about someone else, but when he hears a whisper that runs counter to his own vainglorious self-image, he coils like a caged ferret. Just to drive him a little bit crazy, I took to referring to him as a "short-fingered vulgarian" in the pages of Spy magazine. That was more than a quarter of a century ago. To this day, I receive the occasional envelope from Trump. There is always a photo of him-generally a tear sheet from a magazine. On all of them he has circled his hand in gold Sharpie in a valiant effort to highlight the length of his fingers. I almost feel sorry for the poor fellow because, to me, the fingers still look abnormally stubby. The most recent offering arrived earlier this year, before his decision to go after the Republican presidential nomination. Like the other packages, this one included a circled hand and the words, also written in gold Sharpie: "See, not so short!" I sent the picture back by return mail with a note attached, saying, "Actually, quite short." Which I can only assume gave him fits."

2017-09-26 09:17:23 AM
He also farked up the USFL by trying to compete directly with the NFL in the hopes he and his cronies would be bought out. That failed and he lost his team when the league went bankrupt. If it weren't for Trump, there would be spring football.

2017-09-26 09:18:15 AM
There was a movie about how Trump killed the USFL in an attempt to overcome his inferiority complex. It came out in 2009, so it's not like it was an attempt to discredit his political ambitions.

Trump sent a special reply to the filmmaker.

2017-09-26 09:19:22 AM
That, and also his racism.

I'm going with racist based on the historical evidence.

2017-09-26 09:34:51 AM
It is always, at heart, about Donnie. I'm surprised folks didn't know about his beef with them in the 80s, and the fact that he tried (and failed, b/c he's a mob-connected loser who isn't rich or liquid enough to actually be able to afford an NFL team) to buy to Buffalo Bills in '14, which would have basically prevented this travesty of an administration. But here we are.

2017-09-26 09:40:07 AM
Don't forget that he was also stupid enough to try to go head to head with the NFL when he owned a USFL team and that decision is a main reason the entire league went under.  The only thing that Trump is good at is holding a grudge.

2017-09-26 09:40:41 AM
Well, duh! He killed the USFL trying to get the Generals into the NFL. The NFL owners voted unanimously to keep him out of the league.

I think the article nailed it.  This is a man who cannot get over himself and cannot get over perceived slights.  This is the guy who keeps circling his hands in photographs and sending them to the guy who called him a "short-fingered vulgarian" like 20 years ago.

Trump is stuck in a feedback loop. I bet he talks about this for two more days. This is OCD. No one in his inner circle is stopping him, not his wife or kids. They want him to fail in front of the world. I wished i still believed in karma, even for a second.

Overthinking this, folks. Trump's ire at the NFL is simple - they're not expressing loyalty to him. That's it. It's not about a decades-old grudge, or a complex political struggle involving class warfare, or even his friggin' bigotry.

Trump loves Trump. If you don't love Trump, Trump hates you.

It's no more complicated than that.

See, if it was just him running the show, sure. But while he's "stuck on this," rest assured that the rest of the government isn't, and they're happily unwinding America. Pence isn't idle. Yertle isn't idle. While Trump's sucking up the attention through his ridiculous farking antics, Congress has done everything from attacking  UNSC Resolution 2334 (the one that condemns Israel for what they've done to Palestine) to trying to roll back Dodd-Frank and let banks once again screw you like never before.

Trump's a dangerous distraction - if you don't pay attention, he's liable to commit evil, as he has so often, so far, but if you do pay attention, Congress continues to commit evil, as they have so often, so far. He's not "failing" - he's succeeding, because Pence and Congress is getting done what the folks who backed Trump wanted done. Trump's the bull in the china shop that Pence is robbing - by the time you get Trump out of there, Pence has cleaned out the register, the silver, the safe, and the collectibles, and you're left with Trump's mess (and little else.)

Why do you think Kelly's still around even though there have been clear instances of insubordination? Kelly knows how to say "sorry, Daddy." The others did not.

If only the world had read this document, it covers Trump's whole act. He was born a POS, has always been a POS, and will die, in prison, a POS.

Until then, I must pretend he is President.

I'll say this for Trump: his grudges have one hell of a shelf-life.

Turns out Trump's anger at The NFL is the result of The NFL refusing to allow Trump to buy a football team  a bunch of 'those people' being overtly against him both by action and name, made worse by a deteriorating mental state caused by dementia and amphetamines

Sorry, pet peeve.

Nah. Trump's expressed anger at the NFL is because he thinks that's what his redneck, flag-waving, red-blooded, dusty-booted, real-Murican followers want to hear. And he's correct.
