Didn't any of these people see the Matrix? The machines will rise up, we will have to scorch the sky......and live in a big virtual world and they will use us as batteries.

This is a bad idea...........Unless.....I get to bang trinity.......

A good human runs about $49.99 at Walmart. Unless they work there, and then they run only about $2.99

IFeelNothing: Yeah, the "cheaper" than human beings part is debatable.

"[With robots] you've got a tremendous capability to keep your troops out of harm's way," spokesman Peter Keating said from company headquarters in Sterling Heights, Mich. "Robots are cheaper and more expendable than human beings."

MORE expendable?!? Does that mean that humas are expendable, just really not that much?!?

Here is the problem. When nothing but metal fights and dies then you only lose money. When human beings die you lose a lot more and your a lot quicker to end a war. Robots fighting it out in the wars of the future will make wars go on for a long time. Its just like moving all wars to space. Why bother giving up if you lose very little in a war?

Wheres Mytowcents tonight, I need some comedy relif (of just some relif!)
2002-01-11 03:48:07 PM
Wow, I read a RMCS comic a few days ago that is perfect for this.

2002-01-11 03:49:51 PM
Hang on!
If you have 20,000 metal abominations coming at you that each have the strength of 50 men, and you have one little nuke your gonna use it. The EMP blast will shut all the bastard children of Asimov down for a lifetime.

Media: We're hoping the bad guys don't have robots and with the loss of their human lives to our robot army, they'd be quicker to surrender.

He was turned to steel
in the great magnetic field
Where he traveled time
for the future of mankind

Nobody wants him
He just stares at the world
Planning his vengeance
that he will soon unfold

Now the time is here
for Iron Man to spread fear
Vengeance from the grave
Kills the people he once saved

Nobody wants him
They just turn their heads
Nobody helps him
Now he has his revenge

Heavy bullets of lead
fills his victims full of dread
Running as fast as they can
Iron Man lives again!

Is military research spending even necessary for the US anymore? Christ we're working on robots our enemies are throwing rocks at our tanks, and shooting at our supersonic fighter jets with ak-47s. Spend the money on better training for exsisting weaponry. Looking at the fact that US soldiers have proved more efficient at killing US soldiers than the afghanis have, I think they could use the extra training.
2002-01-11 04:09:30 PM
Certainly a lot of those jobs are to be found in the military, where you'd like to have eyes and ears and hands and legs on the ground. Well not literally on the ground. I mean, the whole point is to keep them off the ground and in their respective places. I just mean, you'd like to have someone there, but not really there. Know what I mean? Am I making sense? Anyway, robots are cool.
2002-01-11 04:10:48 PM
It can cost around $250,000 to train, clothe, house, feed and educate a Soldier initially... Once the Soldier is in the system he/she has access to Health care, insurance, education, ect the bills add up.

go to

and you can learn more.
2002-01-11 04:22:23 PM
I found it kind of creepy that all of the examples of robots in fiction that were cited were used by evil empires/entities. Is there some connection do you suppose?

Not saying the US is evil... just saying that when you send a machine out to kill people, you risk making killing too easy, and you start to become a machine yourself.

I wonder if they should consider programing in Azimov's 3 laws of robotics? Oh course, then it would be impossible to send in the machines to do your dirty work.
