According to the Food and Drug Administration, the company recalled 11oz. Death Wish Nitro Cold Brew cans because the current process could lead to the growth and production of botulin.

The good news is you'll make a very attractive and youthful looking corpse.

I know this story's about botulism, but just as a side note, weed's still illegal and you can order 10kg (yes, kilograms) of pure caffeine powder online, right now and totally legally, for $300.

I almost bought a bag of this stuff on Amazon. I would've probably been fine, as it seems the problem is only with the cold-brew cans

And... that's enough caffeine to kill at least 2,000 people. For $300. And it's legal. Weed never killed anyone and you can go to jail for having shake on the floor mat of your car.

This is just a labeling problem and the company's too cheap to add "CONTAINS BOTULIN" in those annoyingly skinny letters.

I drink Death Wish coffee and it's surprisingly smooth given the caffeine content. Not over-roasted, burnt, or bitter by any means.

Botulism... only the most potent toxin in nature (IIRC). No big deal!

So, they didn't sterilize or pasteurize something?
I only know this from my sausage...

That's because no one in the comapny gives a toot.

You would think that ABC news could afford to hire a proof reader, or at least buy a cheap spell checking program.

That would be Anatoxin-A, if one considers acute effects.

I have their coffee (whole bean) on my Amazon subscribe and save.
Been drinking it for a year. It's the only coffee I buy now.

As far as the can issue, I have never had their cold brew.
However, that kind of issue with canned foods etc has happened before through the years.

Botulism is a potentially fatal form of food poisoning and can cause symptoms like weakness, dizziness, double vision, difficult breathing and more.

If my Friday night's gone right, I can expect those same symptoms.

Ditto. Great tasting coffee without the bitter/acid. The caffeine content doesn't seem over the top to me, either.

Ok, not going to argue that. I just know that it is really bad news!
Botulinum toxin is one of the most powerful known toxins: about one microgram is lethal to humans when inhaled.

So word to the wise, don't snort your canned Death Wish coffee...

It's the type of coffee bean. Most of what's popular these days is 100% Arabica because that had better flavor. The less popular "robusta" beans, which Death Wish uses in its blend, have more caffeine, but are known to be bitter.

I just figured folks were drinking Death Wish for the caffeine content, much like drinking Red Bull and Jolt Cola. I merely suggested a way to get a measured dose of awake in a cup for cheaper.

They have also removed cans from the comapny's online stores.
